Best regards.

It has always been our position to keep credit in line with other BOINC projects. Additionally, I stated that as we improve the performance of the application we'd reduce awarded credit to keep it in line with other BOINC projects.

Actually, the latest change, in one sense, will help people running optimized applications, because they won't be running into the server imposed credit limit anymore.

The "optimizers" sure like their credits but I don't think it was their goal to ruin the credit system completely. *LOL*

To be true, MW gives out extraordinary good credits right now, with the reduction it's still giving good credits.

PS. And the optimized apps are really a fantastic improvement.

EDIT: I think Travis is speaking of the 108cr/h credits limit which was set to prevent too high credits for the optimized apps.
If credits are generally lowered it's unlikely you will hit that "cap" from now on.
Lovely greetings, Cori

Come on Logan, reducing the credit to a half just puts the stock in line with seti AK V8 - which is still too much for CPP.

The optimized/recompiled apps still get more.

Comparison before adjustment : (Windows Vista q6600)

Seti AK V8 : Average. 3660 sec. = 43,76 credits

MW stock app 0.13 : Average. 3550 sec. = 39,85 credits

Assuming my calculator is OK, they both gave almost the same credits per sec.

on my rig. So where was the problem ???

Regards

Kurt

On mine I was getting more tha rosetta, but that's because it's a lower paying project for many users, 6-7 credits/hr/avg for me. A couple years ago I got 13/hr/avg. Thats due to having a slower computer and lowering the credits over time. With the credit cut I might as well stick to running rosetta, not much to draw me to do this project untill some optimized apps come along.

The credits work out different for each different setup, always some do better and some slower.
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.

Quite a difference looking on older rigs.

My long term observation:

this host did 1100 with seti optimized (AK-V8) - 2000 with MW stock

this host did ~500 with seti optimized (AK-V8) - 850 with MW stock

this host did ~700 with seti optimized (2.4) - 1050 with MW stock

(Numbers are from last week - those run recompiled now)

Posted in the wrong thread..

According to this site: http://boinc.netsoft-online.com/e107_plugins/boinc/get_cpcs.php

The milkyway app is 1.6 x faster that the seti stock app. Cutting by 1/2 will put you in the sub 1. range.

I would seriously reconsider giving out less than the seti stock app. This is still an alpha project no?
