Sorry, what was that again? At my age I tend to rely more on computer memory than my own! I think the optimisation thingy went wrong. That is why I haven't had a WU since. |

The 'results in progress' is down to 35k (24%) from 148k on 2-18. That is one reason why no-one is getting work. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

dunno. they come and go so quickly its as if they were never here. Try a P4 3GHz and you'll have around 47-48 minutes to watch them. Or a PIII 800MHz and you have a few HOURS! |

Actually I knew that when I started with the optimized apps months ago, before Cluster Physik even invented the ATI card ;) I have three P4 3GHz (without ATI cards) crunching right now. I prefer to watch my PCs with ATI cards - they ripple through WUs in seconds. Much more interesting. |

I think the optimisation thingy went wrong. That is why I haven't had a WU since. I doubt if it did. If you have a line in your Boinc manager messages tab at the beginning of boinc start up that says Found app_info.xml; Using anonymous platform Then you ARE using an enhanced application. The fact you haven't any work is the same for all of us CPU based people. Those with GPU's are getting the lions share of the work. Even when there is work available CPU people aren't getting it. This is being worked uon as we speak, where there will be separate workunits for CPU and GPU. Don't drink water, that's the stuff that rusts pipes |

Try a P4 and CPDN and you could be going for a year. :) That's interesting, as my Phenom manages a work unit in (give or take) 100hrs. |

. That's not true Chris. Everyone has an equeal chance of getting work when the ask for work. It just depends on how often you ask for it. Yesterday I saw the wonderful message "Reached limit of 6 wu's per cpu" on my old P4 and an hour ago I got 24 wu's on my quady. I really don't think the folks with a GPU get preferential treatment. The fact that they get through the wu's more quickly just means they then start asking for sooner than the folks with CPUs only (like me atm). |

Try a P4 and CPDN and you could be going for a year. :) Depends on the work unit type. There are about 4 different types to chose from in your preferences from a run time of 15 days to 3 months plus, the 15 day one requires 1.5 GB RAM to run. |

This is being worked uon as we speak, where there will be separate workunits for CPU and GPU. I use both and see far more work on the CPU systems than the GPU driven system. |

. I Agree, I have Box's attached to the project that don't have A GPU Card Capable of running the WU's & they have work quite often when I look at them. In fact sometimes I think their doing more work than the Box's I have attached that do have GPU Cards that can run the WU's. |

HELP REQUIRED. I have a dual boot system running XP Pro and Vista. BOINC ver.6.6.20 ATI 0.19e 1.Installed ATI 4870. 2.Installed Catalyst 9.1 for Win Vista. Works as should. 3.Installed Catalyst 9.1 for Win XP. Not working. 4.Installed Catalyst 8.12 for Win XP. Not working. Followed instructions in readme file. Any ideas why it works with vista and not XP? |

Of course, none of the rest of us have ever done anything like that, now have we? :) Probably, well, at least more than once! |

I'm running boinc-6.4.5 on 64-bit Gentoo Linux, AMD Phenom 9650 Quad-Core. I have downloaded linux_0.18d2_64_sse3.tar.gz, stopped boinc and moved files in 64_sse3/ it to /var/lib/boinc/projects/milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway/, as it was suggested. But when I started boinc again, Milkyway jobs failed to start, and I saw messages that milkyway_0.18_sse3_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu is rejected because it has no signature... So I decided to remove new binary, and when started boinc again, it attempted to download milkyway_0.18_sse3_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu from Milkyway server, and failed. Then I removed all app_version elements from client_state.xml. Perhaps, I did something wrong, but all my 8 milkyway tasks disappeared... And now I am without optimized version and without tasks... So what is proper way of installing the optimized version? P.S. I detached from project and joined again, so these task will not wait before expiration. |

Problem solved: I looked at log of one of failed task, and saw message that file cannot be exectuted. So I installed it again and then chown boinc: milkyway_0.18_sse3_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu |
