Is this the 32bit or 64bit version, though? I just test ran 4 tasks on my HD3850; although running tasks in 30 - 40 seconds is nice, I'd rather have a responsive system. So I think I'll only run this at night, when I am not using my computer. ;-) Jord. The BOINC FAQ Service. |

0.19b is for both 32 and 64bit. The zip file available for download for 0.19b contains the apps for both 32 and 64 bit versions. I will make it clearer by seperating them - I'll update zslip later. |

Actually the app has now an all new WU scheduling scheme implemented with the possibility to release the CPU during the GPU computations. Worked on it through night and finished it today at 6 a.m. local time. It is not running well, yet. Most probably I have to modify it a bit. It is slightly too aggressive with the GPU load. That results in quite a few VPU recover events :( One needs to give the GPU(s) some short breaks to react to commands from the OS from time to time (best is several times a second). Otherwise the OS thinks it crashed and resets the card. That is what the VPU recover thing is doing. |

That is what the VPU recover thing is doing. I hate that thing and always disable it after installing new drivers. Sort of a left-over from the days I ran MOHAA on a 9600 Pro, with it crashing somewhere and me ending up with only a blue screen... (not a BSOD, just a light blue screen), meaning I still had to reboot. Jord. The BOINC FAQ Service. |

Would a 4850x2 work with the Gpu App? Use both cores? |

I have had the same problem. I my case the reason was that I was running the boinc manager as a service. After deinstall and a new install (not as service) it is working. I have still some problem regarding the scheduling. My setup is: Intel I7 920 6 GB ram saphire Radeon HD4850 GPU 512 Mb All the time the MW WU go to High Priority. This means that only MW is running in 90% of the time. So the 4 cores of the I7 are iddeling most of the time. |

I have a problem when running another project at the same time : If I run another project, I always have the "not requesting tasks" message. If I suspend the other projet, I must manually request tasks, and sometimes I get some ... Star Wars BOINC Team |

I have a problem when running another project at the same time : I also get this. There seems to be enough tasks available for us to download, but for some reason we don't get them. Minds immeasurably more intelligent than mine are looking at the problem right now I expect. |

Yes there is enough units to download, but I can't get a lot and I must do a manual check to get some tasks. Thank you very much ^^ Star Wars BOINC Team |

Just attached and installed the .19b on my system that has a Sapphire HD4870 1gig, and only issue I have is the screen stops for about 2 seconds every 10-60+secs, anyway to fix that? Also what everyone Temps on their cards I'm at 83-88°C. |

humm, idle is about 46°C, were you crunching or idling at when you took those readings? BTW I'm at 100% Fan speed and overclocked to 800/1000. |

only issue I have is the screen stops for about 2 seconds every 10-60+secs, anyway to fix that? Just close GPU-Z or the Catalyst Control Center ;) At least half of the GPU monitoring tools (including the CCC itself) do something strange to read out the load, temperature and whatever which cause this 2 second freezes on certain systems. On other systems or with other tools it works (I've heard GPU-Z runs flawlessly with the GPU app under XP32). |

If i was you i would see if i could improve the cooling in your computer a bit. But it depends on many factors its not a biggy if a videocard becomes between 75 to 90 C in fact i have a card which does even work well when it becomes 125 C the famous nvidia 6800 cards can even work with higher temps before fail ( i was told they can have 160 c max ). But these days most videocards stay fairly cool so around 50 to 70 C is normal for them under load But if i compare yours to others with similar cards yours get a bit hotter then most i see. It can be that your card has a lesser cooler but most common is that your computer does not have enough cooling. For most people it is very easy to improve this by adding a fan in the extra spaces for those cooling fans. Mostly fans in front suck air in and fans on the back blow it out its probably this. So check if you can add a fan for extra cooling if not it will not be a great deal but i would check if my cpu would become very hot also. Basically the more fans the better ;) |

If i was you i would see if i could improve the cooling in your computer a bit. This computer is a 4u Server case with a 120MM fan on the left side (in front of the vid card) plus a 80mm delta (lots of air and very loud =P) behind the 2 3.5 slots. plus a 80mm Delta directing air from just in front of the card down it towards the back of the case.
kinda though that might be it after posting, but thanks for confirming it. |
