I could only afford a 4830 I installed yesterday

But only CPU time. It took your GPU more than 30 seconds to crunch this WU.

Yes, I must admit that the consept of CPU/GPU crunching took a while for me to get my head around. Doesn't really matter if the CPU takes a millionth of a second - it's the GPU that's doing the work and taking the time.

None-the-less, sub 1 seconds may be a rare thing (at least catching one to record it) - so congratulations Copycat-Digital! :)

It is a nice demonstration of the low CPU load.
But I would like to report GPU time as WU time in the next version as this is a much better representation of the time the WUs actually take. Only Travis has to agree with that. But he was quite quiet the last days, maybe still the flu?

There's probably some good snow at Belleayre.

By the way, you could put version 0.19e of the ATI GPU app on zslip. The new version plays a bit nicer with the OS trying to react to user input. The system response should be quite a bit improved.

Yes it is, and nearly back to normal.

Thanks

OK, that's done Cluster Physik. 0.19e is on zslip.com/org and the zslip.net/info UK mirrors.

Thanks Cluster Physik and Ice! I'll give it a try when I get back on my Dell. Does it play nicer with the 9.2 driver or is 9.1 still better? (I couldn't get 8.12 working on my Windows box).

Indeed, great app. Thanks a lot, good work.
Found this result (running three results concurrently):
CPU time: 0.796875 seconds, GPU time: 27.125 seconds, wall clock time: 133.139 seconds, CPU frequency: 2.40003 GHz :-)

BTW: the CPU frequency reported is not correct, according to CPU-Z it is running at 3.249 GHz

I have 2 4870's in an I7. I believe at the moment that only 1 of them is running WU's or as previously mentioned there running at 50%. Running without Crossfire means I return the same units/time.

A) Is there any way to see if 2 GPU's are doing the work or just 1.
B) How do I get both to funtion at full speed if it is possible/

Thanks, I've heard good news in that the gpu is now only at 90% load but does that mean that my RAC will go down by 10% ?

Being at 90% the system is more responsive but to be honest I would prefer to have the gpu crunching 100% with 0.19e:)

Sometimes I wonder why I have taken the effort to write a 12kB readme. Is anyone reading it?
If you don't know how to change the behaviour after reading the readme (hint: the f option is what you are looking for), you may ask again ;)

Your i7 has only one active card. It gets deactivated if the driver does not detect a monitor attached to it. Try connecting both cards to the same monitor (one card with DVI, the other via VGA). You may set up a clone mode of the display of both cards to be really sure both are active.
You can check the task details to look for the active GPUs in the system.
