My site also hosts SETI combined apps and I don't plan on taking it down for a long while. |

Why are fat gas bags and friends trying to ruin this thread, the one that has had the most hits in the history of MilkyWay? Why level such abuse at the author of this thread? Why does anyone have to do maintenance on a web site? Why do problems sometimes happen with a site which take it down for a while? Why have some only got one brain cell? For Christs sakes add your own download resources and keep them up to date and I'll be sure to call you a snotty runt if it goes down. FFS Only said it had gone down and was showing an ad for non-slip floors.... :-O |

At risk of taking sides, I for one am grateful to Gipsel for producing all the opt apps, and to ICE for the work he has done in making them all available in one easy to find venue. So what if the site is down at the moment? I hope it is something that is not causing ICE a problem, and that he has control over getting them online again when he has the time. Please people, whatever fights you have had in the past, remember that ICE is providing a service which nobody else had provided, with a public and easy to find link to Gipsel's apps, and at his own expense (it doesn't matter whether that expense is small or large, point is he did not have to provide it!). Surely if anyone is sulking here, it is those who criticise the person who provides something for free, not the provider who for whatever reason has had to take it down for a while? Has anyone also considered that if there is shortly to be a separate GPU project and a change of GPU app, maybe ICE taking the site down for a while is doing a favour to anyone who might have downloaded it now and find it not working in a few days (whether that was part of the intent or not...)? Sometimes newbies don't check all posts to see what status the project has... If this post upset anyone, then I am sorry that you are so sensitive :) |

Looks like zslip.com just slipped. The 'normal' thing to do is to let people know when you are going to do maintenance.... And all the links at the bottom of your sig have gone as well.... It's all about patterns. |

When Travis and Dave have the CUDA GPU client ready for us to down load, I am assuming the client download will be automatic (after BOINC Manager has reported detecting a CUDA compatible device). Then this will be exactly the same as we currently have for the PU variant. I am sure that when Gisel, Cluster Physis, et al, have worked the new code, then a link (including zSlip) will be provided for this new more intense ATI GPU client. I too believe the service Ice has provided with his site for organising all the different apps has been most beneficial. I just hope he continues on with it. Please excuse me if I'm not optimistic though. He has done this sort of thing before. Time will tell and I will gladly alter my attitude if he does continue on with it, but I'm not holding my breath. |

Now if I can get all the apps, I can host them on my server. A bit of redundancy is not a bad idea. Why not have them hosted in more than once place? |
