Getting a lot of bad wu. I am using plain 6.10.4 and the new cp ati ap.

Anyone else having this error problem?

I have 2 hd 4870 in a q6600 intel. with 4 geg ram.

You are not the only one reporting this. The reason is a missing input file and not a calculation error. All reporting this so far had running 6.10.4.
If it is not happening with other client versions I would guess 6.10.4 sometimes messes up the links to the input files. That would be a bug of the BOINC client (or MW is sending bad WUs only to users of 6.10.x).

I'm running 6.6.23 and don't get these errors.

By reading in this Thread I take it the 0.20 Applications is for the CPU's only & won't work with the GPU's ???

And what the hell is linked in the post directly before yours???

Is my English that bad? ;)

Excuse me all to Hell, I was just asking because I was reading it was only for CPU's ...

did you run out your cache before changing the app? I had that problem yesterday with the CPU app on one box. You may need to reset the project too.

Yes I cleaned out the old boinc and installed the new boinc 10.6.4 and then installed the new ver 2 ap. and reset the project. still getting error ed wu. humm.

Thanks again Cluster Physik. Downloads for the 0.20 ATI version as well as the new 0.20 CPU version are also available on brilliantsite

It's almost tomorrow here (2 minutes of today are left). I guess it will be okay to post a link to the GPU version 0.20 then.

Changes are as already mentioned a higher accuracy with results exactly matching my latest CPU versions which have increased the accuracy above that of the stock app. These differences in the result are all well within the limits given by the project, so I think it is okay to implement it unilaterally so to say. But it should be possible to tighten these limits when the changes are ported to the stock app as well as the CUDA app (Travis and Anthony were given notice of those changes some days ago). This should enable less noisy results which may improve the convergence of the searches.

But I guess most are concerned by the speed of the new versions. I invite everyone to compare their credits/day with the 0.19 versions before the credit reduction and now with the 0.20 version after the reduction ;)

And really important not only this time: Read the readme.txt included in the package!
The included app_info.xml is already made for the new 6.10.x BOINC clients (hope there will be a good working version within in a few days). If you use another one, you may need to remove the <coproc></coproc> statements and adjust the <avg_ncpus> value (i.e. raise it to your needs).

Argh! No unicode support here (or I've done something wrong). The kyrillic letters looked great before pressing the "post" button. But setting the IE to kyrillic it appears again.

Tried the 0.20 app but got a LOT of output file absent errors. I'm using 6.10.4 BOINC, Vista Ultimate 64 bit and HD4850. 0.19g is running ok but is not able to get any work for GPU. When it asks for work for CPU it gets work just fine and processes them without problems.

Example of errored WUs here.

I have the 0.20 GPU App & v6.6.20 Client running on my i7 with a 4870 & a 4850 X2 with no Problems so far. Seems to be a lot smoother running than with the 19f Application. Don't know about the speed though ...

And the next one with 6.10.4 and errors. It really appears to be a problem of that version only.

What I did notice before pulling the plug on it was that it asked work for GPU and got it, each of which then errored. But after seeing three sets of 24 WUs each go down the drain I did not want to wait and see if it got better if it asked work for CPU.

Speed is just great!
with 19f I've seen ~67 sec worth 74 credits (older inflated ones :) ) (3s task)
now it takes only ~46 seconds for same type task (resulting in ~53 new devaluated ones ;) )

Speed increase just astonishing.

ADDON: BOINC 6.10.3 here cause 6.10.4 did silly task preempting each time it recived new work. And there were input file missing errors under 6.10.4 on my host too, with 0.19f.
No errors with 20 + 6.10.3 so far.

I'm seeing close to 4 minutes on my i7 so I don't think I'll be seeing any 46 Second ones any time soon.

So let's just check what the credit reduction has done for you.

Before: 74 credits / 67 seconds = 1.10 credits per second
After: 53 credits / 46 seconds = 1.15 credits per second

Nice reduction, isn't it? :D
