I got around to trying the new 9.4 Cat Drivers from ATI/AMD & did get the Diamond 4890 to run the WU's, well at least 2 of them anyway since that's all I had left to run & haven't received anymore since then on that Box. Congratulations PoorBoy :) While you are waiting on your ebay bids (I already have my bid snipper poised ;P) please let us know if you manage a few more WUs on that HD4890. As for ebay, I would check out your local landfill since not too long ago I heard people were chucking out their nVidia cards to make room for ATIs. |

Not bloody likely ... I get a constant stream of work for my Nvidias from GPU Grid and am quite happy with them. I do seem to get enough work to feed the CPU class machines but nothing for the ATI card (or at least I never see it). I am not that upset about it other than the fact that I have a GPU that is twiddling its thumbs ... now, if we can get a reliable and stable working system here I will be delighted to watch that one card run. But, if I were to be in the market for a card, another GTX295 would be the first thing I would be considering ... |

I'm not using my HD3850 to get work here, just my plain old two CPUs and both have got work. All I did was sleep, so there's something you must have done wrong. ;-) (And I am on such a BOINC version which if it doesn't get work, will go into longer and longer back-offs until we're backing off for 24 hours... ) Jord. I would check out your local landfill since not too long ago I heard people were chucking out their nVidia cards to make room for ATIs. @ Ice, I'll be keeping my NVIDIA Cards for some time to come, for 1 their more productive right now than the ATI Cards that I have are. I've never slowed down any at the GPUGrid project even with all the Hoopla over the ATI Cards, I still run the same amount of Cards as I did before I started adding ATI Cards too & plan on doing so in the Future too. @Paul, not much going on with the Card over night, in fact the 4890 hasn't received another WU for the last 7-8 hr's or since it ran the 2 that it did run successfully . None of the other ATI Cards have got much either so I don't know whats going on. @Brian, Words are a waste on you, so as you say: Have a great evening / morning / whatever it is in your neck of the woods ... @Jord, I notice my CPU only Box's have work quite frequently, but that is probably due to the fact it takes them much longer to do the WU's so I see them more often with work. Right now 1 out of 6 ATI Equipped Box's has 4 MWay WU's on it while 5 out of 8 none ATI Equipped Box's have MWay WU's on them so the works there I guess but just not going to the ATI Equipped Box's. |

9.4 drivers are out and working nicely for me (using the normal driver expand and copy instructions from the readme). Was apprehensive as the 4850x2 has hardly been mainstream on the drivers. Talking bang for buck I had 4870 go down and for the same money now I replaced it with a 4850x2. Shame it will now mean I have 2 GPU's without work instead of the 1, (well 5 really as none of the cards are getting much). Now it's true my GTX-295s never want for units. My ATI's are hardly ever full. /sigh If I read the GPU announcement correctly, it will require Gipsel (or another intrepid person) to create the new App for the ATI's as Milkyway are only creating the CUDA Version? Hope Gipsel hasn't sold his ATI's for nVidia or were in trouble lol |

You are right and be assured, I will do my best. I hoped Travis would have released the code for the GPU version as announced as I won't have time during Easter. So even if it is released today, it will have to wait until tuesday or so. Hope Gipsel hasn't sold his ATI's for nVidia or were in trouble lol I never owned a compatible ATI card. All the programming was done in a blind flying way so far ;) But to tell the truth, I got some support by some of my team members testing the GPU app for me (as I couldn't run it on my 'puters). I hope it will be better for the next version as I will have one or two cards at my hands to do the debugging (was quite painful so far without the appropriate hardware as you may imagine). I think the readme of the next version will contain the details ;) |

I would like to echo the same to Cluster Physic for the successful work he did on the ATI client. I hope the new code will be as spectacular. Thanks Go away, I was asleep |

I'd also like to add my thanks to Cluster Physik an even more impressive achievement if it was written without having a suitable card |
