Message 11272 - Posted: 17 Feb 2009, 22:43:05 UTC - in response to Message 11261.

The x87 and SSE versions are created using different compilers. So it is perfectly possible that the x87 version is faster than the SSE one, as SSE cannot be used for the time consuming stuff here at MW requiring double precision.
Also be aware there are WUs with different length floating around. One should compare only the times of similar ones.

Ah that would explain it, thanks.
I am not 100 percent sure, but it was the same mix of searches s86 and s79 before and after the switch yesterday. No s20/21 with longer runtimes, the are downloaded today.

Hello
I'm trying to help a member of my team in order to crunch on GPU application..

But he got some issues.

He attached boinc to milky, then stopped boinc, pasted the 0.19d application in his folder E:/boinc/project/milkyway.

He's running with XP 32b and a 4870X2 with 9.1's driver

But every WU go in compute error with the error :

<core_client_version>6.4.7</core_client_version>

Use 8.12, 9.1 doesn't work.
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.

It was the same with 8.12
So he has changed for 9.1

I think 9.2 is out. Not sure that's the problem though. I don't have a GPU. But some others do who can probably do better at helping than myself.

I was getting the same error message when I first started.
For me, installing both .NET Framework v2.0 and v3.5 did the trick

Is it only me, or is anyone else having the problem with 6.6.28 where after a reboot, the app_info and application are gone ...

Well, on the Mac it is 6.6.29 ...

Part of it is CUDA... if you want to use it and rake in the big bucks you have to run at least 6.4.5 though *MY* opinion is that that version is about the worst in the world ...

Sadly, with BOINC versions, our history continues with lightly tested versions and you pick a version and its collection of bugs and live with them ... I can't recall a version that there was not something major wrong with it in my opinion ...

I've been running 6.6.28 for a few days now, the only problem so far has been my boinc icons disappeared on one machine.

Using 6.6.28 creates me some problems.

I came back to 6.6.23 today without problem 3wu milky for my GPU + 4 for my quad.
