But your point is obvious, and one that I'm told some people who do professional graphics rendering also have understood: Let the graphics card do the heavy work and get more speed for less money.


3-D graphics rendering is a killer. It would take awhile for basic drawings to pop up on standard computers. I haven't seen the difference with a Gpu yet. It must be massive.
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.
