I just started up the MW project and found an optimized app at zslip.com, but was wondering if there are any out there that would be better for my system. For instance, I noticed this in one of the canonical results for another user:

BOINC_APP_VERSION: 0.18
BOINC_APP_NAME: speedimic_SSE3AMD

Running on a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ which took 1565.054 CPU seconds.

My first result looked like this:

Running Milkyway@home version 0.19 by Gipsel
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ (2 cores/threads) 2.99247 GHz (283ms)
1379.078 CPU seconds.

It doesn't look like an optimized app stamp, but the executable in my task list says "astronomy_0.19_SSE3.exe", which is the optimized app I downloaded.

Am I running the best exe for my system?

That is the readout that Gipsel put in it, so you should be crunching with that opti app version. Which should be the best app for your system too.
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.

Thanks.

So what is the speedimic_SSE3AMD?

Speedimic's SSE3 version for AMD & linux by the chart (on zslip.com). Gipsel's are for window's.

BOINC_APP_VERSION: 0.18
BOINC_APP_NAME: speedimic_SSE3AMD

Running on a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ which took 1565.054 CPU seconds.

Is that user using Linux?
