He'd taken the cover off the bottom over the CPU to get extra air in, and had stood the thing on a book each end because it was scorching the table. It was hard to see what was going on, the fan was running fullspead and hot air was blasting out everywhere. After being off for about 10 minutes I felt brave enough to touch it and removed the fan, it was all nice and clean except the heat exchanger at the end of the thermal pipe was completely filled with dust bunnies - more like polar fleece! Ended up taking the assembly down the road to a workshop that had an airline and 1 long blast produced a huge dustcloud and a sparkling clean heatsink. ID: 16086 · Rating: 0 · rate: /

The whole heatsink assembly must've been 80C or more, it would shut down after an hour or so depending on the weather.
