Hi, Has anyone got a like setup to work? I have a GTX285 and a ATI 4850 installed but only the cuda device is seen under boinc, and that crunches gpugrid fine. MW did download some 0.19 apps and error ed them all out. I think they were the cpu variety anyhow, not the gpu type. I've also tried the 9.1 ati driver, and the latest 9.2 with no luck. My setup is: winxp pro 32 bit boinc 6.4.7 Ati drivers 8.12 optimized app 0.19e for SSE2 Here is a message text from boinc: 3/17/2009 8:56:20 PM||Starting BOINC client version 6.4.7 for windows_intelx86 3/17/2009 8:56:20 PM||log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_ops 3/17/2009 8:56:20 PM||Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8j zlib/1.2.3 3/17/2009 8:56:20 PM||Data directory: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\BOINC 3/17/2009 8:56:20 PM||Running under account Dave 3/17/2009 8:56:23 PM|Milkyway@home|Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform 3/17/2009 8:56:23 PM|SETI@home|Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform 3/17/2009 8:56:25 PM||Processor: 4 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU @ 2.40GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 7] 3/17/2009 8:56:25 PM||Processor features: fpu tsc sse sse2 mmx 3/17/2009 8:56:25 PM||OS: Microsoft Windows XP: Professional x86 Editon, Service Pack 2, (05.01.2600.00) 3/17/2009 8:56:25 PM||Memory: 2.44 GB physical, 4.29 GB virtual 3/17/2009 8:56:25 PM||Disk: 74.53 GB total, 13.51 GB free 3/17/2009 8:56:25 PM||Local time is UTC -4 hours 3/17/2009 8:56:25 PM||Not using a proxy 3/17/2009 8:56:32 PM||CUDA devices found Any good ideas for a fix? |

Have you got all your windows updates? I had that kind of problem on a system I forgot to update windows on. But it seemed to work without the update on version 19b. I forgot what the file updates were named now, but i know they are listed in this thread somewhere. Here Rick Edit. I think it was the .NET Framework. Someone should beable to answer better for you soon though. |

There may be a further complication for your system carrying 2 graphics cards. I assume that your GTX285 is running your PC system graphics and any gaming you might do, while the ATI HD4850 is there to crunch MW. As I understand it, any graphics cards not connected to a monitor are disabled, which may be why your WUs errored out. One of our knowledgeable colleagues (I am not in the thread to see who mentioned it) said that the use of a dummy VGA connector modified with resistors can fool the OS in to believing a monitor is connected. What I am referring to can be seen here. |

Buga1, yes, I have the latest windows updates including all of the .net series up through 3.5 spx John, yes, you assume exactly my setup. I saw that post just a bit ago about the dummy monitor plug. I'll have to try something similar. thank you both for the suggestions. |

I just plugged another monitor in to that card as well and it didn't make a difference. MW WU's still got computing errors and failed. |

I've tried this on my XP machine. I don't think the ATI drivers and the Nvidia drivers play nice together. I think they expect to see atleast one of their own as the main graphics card and can't handle it when they're not. This may be an XP thing. I've not tried this udner Vista. |

I have it working now !! Its running 4 ABC CPU tasks, one GPUgrid task and several 3 or 4 MW tasks. I'm jazzed. I have a high def. gateway monitor that has 2 hdmi inputs, but I had to activate the second video output under the display applet under control panels. I guess that corrects for the dummy video plug situation. thanks for your help |

I have a GTX285 and a ATI 4850 installed but only the cuda device is seen under boinc... This is as expected. BOINC does not yet notice ATI cards. Not even the latest 6.6.16 build (as far as I know) because the developers are planning to ignore helping out MW until after they finish messing up work fetch in 6.6.x version. They HAVE made the blithe assertion that the adding of ATI to the system will be trivial and fast ... |
