They are having troubles getting BOINC to build the "project"... Back when I was working on documenting BOINC this was a place I had started to look and boy does the documentation stink ... the authors never tested the procedures by doing EXACTLY what they wrote ... so the process is murky and usually incomplete (missing steps). Anyway, they ARE working on it ... |

Yes, indeed Paul reads the boinc feeds. I found an error which prevented me from making a new project in a python file. Not going into details, I'm working on it, and hopefully I should be able to resolve it soon. Dave Przybylo MilkyWay@home Developer Department of Computer Science Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute |

They are having troubles getting BOINC to build the "project"... Yet another area dearest David (Anderson) could spend some time working on rather than social networking, forum changes, and Kredit Koppery IMO, YMMV, etc, etc, etc... |

They are having troubles getting BOINC to build the "project"... Cosmo also cannot replace a single file. Meanwhile the granted credit dropped. Kredit Koppery indeed. me@rescam.org |

Cosmo also cannot replace a single file. Meanwhile the granted credit dropped. Kredit Koppery indeed. Re: cosmo It is not that the granted dropped, it has been 140 for a long time ... it is just that the run times are now 2-5 times what they used to be ... so now I am claiming 200-600 CS and only getting 140 ... @Brian Or he could have been gracious when some of us were trying to document and accepted help ... but he (Dr. Anderson) was more concerned about writing style than content ... and here we are ... |

Not going into details, I'm working on it, and hopefully I should be able to resolve it soon. Only some of them... And I only posted cause some don't and there is a thirst for information ... as in, they are working on it ... even if we can't see anything posted on the news or in the fora ... |

Just read the news about the problems with setting up the website for the GPU project. But could you (Travis or Dave) post a link to the code for the CPU part of the new GPU application as soon as possible? I think for the longer WUs the whole parameter handling and checkpointing was changed, even if the core integral calculation may be the same. It won't help if the website is up and running but there are no apps to calculate the WUs ;) |

Thanks for doing this, Dave. I can't wait to see a dedicated project for GPUs from MW ^_^ |

I look forwards to putting my GTX 295 and 8800GT to good use once CUDA is implemented. I also look forwards to using my 3870 without crashing my graphics driver every 5 minutes. |

Your 8800GT won't be that fast as all double precision ops will be emulated by several single precision ops, but your GTX 295 should do just fine. |

It's very slow, taking about 24 hours to turn in a single WU. But the GPUs will go a long way in playing COD4 and Grid, when I'm not crunching away in Boinc ;) |

Alberto>without crashing my graphics driver every 5 minutes Are you using drivers v. 9.1 or .3? I initially had the 'VPU Recover every 5mins' problem, using 9.3. I switched back to v. 8.12 and haven't had a problem since. Needed DriverCleaner.NET to get completely rid of 9.3 though. Perhaps 9.4 has improved things... Cheers, PeterV . |

Alberto>without crashing my graphics driver every 5 minutes Cat 9.3 had a problem with applications using the CAL interface, it was not stable on WinXP systems. You need either the hotfix for that problem or better, take another driver version. |

I've tried 9.1 initially, but that was before 0.19e. I then tried 8.12 but my system just refused to install it (Dell/Vista 64 at the time, now running 7 x64). I tried 9.2 and it seemed a bit better, but still crashing. I will wait until it's official to use the 3870 for crunching again. I need stable graphics to still be able to work in Photoshop. |

My Vista machine did erratically crash under 9.1 and 9.2. I HATE VISTA. But I also do not feel like learning new OS (*inx) so it is either that or wait for Win 7 to be out of beta and 'get a copy'. I have one of my other machines under 7 and it is ok, except for some reason the sound does not work at all. |
