LOL, now to figure out a script that'll keep checking if I am registered, and as soon as I am not try to register again until I get user ID #1 (just kidding, of course :) )

Funny. Here I am ID 141. On GPU I am ID 14.

So I will get very cross if it gets deleted again. ;-)

But CPDN is simpler in that it is CPU-only.

Actually thats not entirely true because i ran beta units for CPDN which wanted to use my GPU :), so those guys are secretly busy making GPU units as well ;)
As are many other projects which want a pie of the extra power suddenly available to them.
Although i agree with Verstapp they have a awesome good site with lots of options like choosing which units and even that i can merge hosts which where not exactly the same name.
That was very handy since i run many times projects in a virtual machine under any virtual box, just to see if it works without crashing my machines.
Or simply to test if running a 64 bit version would give more credits.

How long do you think it will be before mainstream applications sit up and take notice?
How long before os's start to use the power of the GPU - Intel and AMD, moreso Intel I think, may need to rethink the future.

Well actually i think we do woke the world to the power available withing the present power boxes.
If i think about my first computer ( well i hardly can call it that ) it had 1 Mhz cpu and 1 kb of ram and i had to program it with a kind of assembler :D
We came a long way with our machines having the power of a real supercomputer at hand.
Can't wait to see my nvidia crunch MW :D

What I tried to say was - the demise/replacement of the CPU as the 'brain' of the machine

actually, we may see if the future, a sort of co-processor like our cuda does. .23 cpu cuda device doing most of the work. i see a intel (I20) sitting right next to a(an) AMD-Nividia Chipset, are motherboards will be more like a the gpu and cpu sitting on the board and lots of ram modules.

who knows. just think if we were to start shrinking the gpu size and interface to use pci-e 1x. and 1-tenth the of a gtx 260 or ati 2x card. think of size the power and expandability of gpu.

also, gpu's with cpu cores.... who the hell knows whats around the corner.

i mean just think, diamonds replacing silcon = to 0 heat as blue diamond can transfer electrical current but doesn't generate(produce) heat.

look it up. Nat. geo.

27 users now, and Dave P is the latest, so it might stick.

one question it may have already been answered.

Are the forums for gpu going to be added to the main cpu side so that their all on 1 web server???

keeping it all together "forums" seem like a good idea. would create less traffic on GPU side.

The forums will have to inherently be separate because the databases are separate. They are maintained on the same server though.

You could just link the forums on the GPU site to these forums.
