The moon? It doesn't exist.

It does so. It must. I have a picture of it on my desktop! That can't be fabricated. :-)

Neither can tides ;)

Reminds me of The Truman Show.

Ok, so when is this project going to be placed into "DRIVE" instead of "Park" ? Who's at the helm?

Does anyone have some accurate insight?

Project admin's are more than welcome to reply if they can spare the time.

Number of white papers published...?????

Projects that have published that I know of off the top of my head or have posted easy to find links on the project site:

SETI@Home
Einstein@Home
Rosetta@Home
CPDN
WCG
MilkyWay@Home
ABC@Home
AQUA@Home
Docking@Home
PrimeGrid
QMC@Home
RCN
Spinhenge@Home

I am sure there are others. Though I could not find a listing, I am pretty sure publications and / or presentations have come out of these projects too:

Leiden Classical
GPU Grid
LHC@Home
SIMAP
YoYo

I do not know how current it is, I know that it is out of date, but you can look at the UBW and it has a partial list.

Though I am sure that we would all like more science and papers to come out... one of the first hurdles is that far too many are too busy looking for ET to consider doing some real science.

That said, it is not that shabby that we have the number of project with papers out ... remember, it can take years before you can do enough research to publish a paper ... and these are only the papers that the project is putting up on its site in a way that is easy to find. Some projects are overseas and as an "Ugly American" (in more ways than one) I cannot read their native language sites and so may have missed something critical ...

Theirs would be more along the lines of science if they started up the persistency checking. As it stands, the only thing really accomplished by years of work by millions of computers is the equivalence of a pre-processing filter.

Atleast when I did Seti Classic I felt like I was doing something worthy. Then they went to Boinc and didn't seem to be getting anywhere and constantly wanted money. I eventually found other projects and left.

Is MW GPU getting any further along?

I actually managed to get 5 units on my Quad core and they lasted about 5 minutes total, that GPU just chewed them up and spit back the results real fast.

@ Mike

8800GT is Outdated.
I have a 8800GTX for sell but it has core G80 in it. Good for gaming.
Although I saw it using the GPU with S@H a couple times.
I just installed a GTX285 in my box and is doing a fine job. But now I want to sell it for a GTX295.
I would defenately look for a newer card Mike. But yet the budget often talks.
This is solely my personal opinion!

I know its "outdated" I didn't ask about that. I asked if the project will SUPPORT it.

I went with the 8800GT because my mobo looks like it only supports a single pci-e card.

I guess the only ones that could tell you would be the programmers that are suppose to be working with Travis to produce the CUDA based app.

Currently as I am sure you know, the only GPU card that is works in MW is ATI 3800 and 4800 series. There has been some discussion about a CUDA app being developed but other than that, there as been no promises.

So we are just in wait and see mode for now.

You only need a single PCIe slot for the dual slot cards. The second slot isn't taken up by another connector, but by a bigger cooler.
