Has anyone had any success in getting a Raedeon HD3850 AGP card to successfully crunch MW on the card? I downloaded the 9.4 hotfix for AGP cards, copied & renamed the ATI files, and all I get is an error message that output file xxxx... for task xxxx.... not found. What am I missing? PC is a AMD 754 socket with a 3400 CPU SSE, SSE2, SSE3 capable. Power supply is Ultra 550W X3 (modular). Thanks. I think I saw a post from Poorboy about his 3850 AGP card & hotfix. I'm wondering how it can be accomplished? |

Has anyone had any success in getting a Raedeon HD3850 AGP card to successfully crunch MW on the card? I downloaded the 9.4 hotfix for AGP cards,Yes, I do :) I have an old P4 running AGP HD3850 with 8.12. I didn't install the hotfix version but rather attempted to install 8.12 (which fails) then manually added new hardware and pointed it to the newly created ATI folder. It seems the happiest of my ATI cards because it's so slow in comparison to the hd4850s and usually has WUs |

look at the nVidia website, i'm sure they'rerecomending a 650w for s system that runs a 4890 Yes, ok, guilty of that little mistake. Got carried away - of course I meant ATI website. |

Has anyone had any success in getting a Raedeon HD3850 AGP card to successfully crunch MW on the card? I have to fess up, and run an ATI HD3850 AGP, with the ATI Catalyst 8.12, in my dual Xeon Prestona server. It seems to get the work, some of the time, and gives this rig the same MW performance as a quad core Penryn extreme running an optimised client. Go away, I was asleep ![]() ![]() |

greed for work units isn't restricted to gpu machines. and there seems to be plenty of complaints from both sides. my GPU machine is just as dry as my CPU machines. in fact, i've switched it (an i7) over the cpdn and abc pretty much exclusively. and my core 2 duo is doing artificial intellegence when it cannot get any optimized mw. my old 3GHz p4 is relying heavily on poem and enigma when there are no mw units. And my even older 1.8 celeron & 1GHz p3 I just let run dry rather than trying to micromanage them. once the gpu-genie was released, i don't think anyone expected the onslaught of new (gpu) users that knocked mw on it's cyber-butt. and I've deleted the rest of my post as I've just realized I was degenerating into a rant of sorts. |

Before that I used the driver version 8.12 and it work without problem (8.12 or 9.4). I just follow the instruction in the readme file. On Windows XP Pro SP3. |

Do you have BOINC installed as a service, that will also cause that error. ![]() |

Do you have BOINC installed as a service, that will also cause that error. Only with Vista. Service installs run under WinXP without any problems. |

Install .Net Framework 3.5 - all my WUs errored out on my 4850s before I installed that. ![]() |

Just bought a machine (to be built next week) specifically to run my 2x4850 in crossfire with the X2-5050e energy efficient AM2 processor (45W), with 2GB RAM. Technically at 150W full pelt for a 4850, using a 550W for two should be fine. But that's still pushing the limit a little (300 + proc + other bits = ~400ish), hence I'll be using a 700W to power it. It'll have some headroom also if I want to swap one out for a 4850X2 (which uses 275-325W so I read on benchmark websites). I have an 800W I could use if I wanted to double up on X2 cards, but 300*2 + proc + other stuff, even 800W would be pushing it. My 0.02 ![]() |

OK -- so that's a machine specifically built to do MW then, right? Just bought a machine (to be built next week) specifically to run my 2x4850 in crossfire with the X2-5050e energy efficient AM2 processor (45W), with 2GB RAM. ![]() |

Got my 8800GT ..and moved on to Folding@Home GPU. I find it pretty low that somebody from this project head can't update its users on whats going on. Therefore like I said, I moved on. |

Yeah, and when OpenCL is released for CUDA and Stream, my own work simulations as well. It is available from Nvidia. Jord. The BOINC FAQ Service. |

Yeah, and when OpenCL is released for CUDA and Stream, my own work simulations as well. Yes, but only for the "chosen" ones, not the public. Per their site: NVIDIA will be Beta testing OpenCL with strategic developers this year. Please check back here for updates! |

I must be one of the illuminati. and I never even knew until i got a junk mail from nv the other day saying stuff like NVIDIA pre-release OpenCLâ„¢ Driver & SDK Early Access Program NVIDIA Corporation is the first company to release OpenCL driver to developers, participating in its OpenCL Early Access Program. NVIDIA is providing this to solicit early feedback in advance of a beta release which will be made available to all registered OpenCL early access participants in the coming months. Well I had a Q6600 + DDR2 + DVD + SATA + 4 (yes 4) Pcie 9800GT's running off a 550W Coolermaster for 2 months on FAH no problemo. TDP of the 9800GT (or at least the only value I could find, strangely) is 105W. Q6600 is 105W (or 95W if you have the SLACR version) if you were using the SMP client as well. That's an estimated 525W without taking into account motherboard, memory, etc. I'd feel uneasy with that setup, but whatever works for you. Though chances are that one of the PCI cards would be suffering a reduction in power - the motherboard would redirect and throttle accordingly I'd assume. ![]() |
