My laptop told me it didnt like cpu apps.. It told Since it is a laptop, I would bet it is due to heat. If you crunch on a laptop, limit your CPU usage in your BOINC settings to 50% usage. I would not recommend crunching on a laptop :) Who am I to talk. I have laptops that I crunch with. And have burnt up 4 of them. - the price we pay. . |

The bad thing is that in that momet, Im out of MW. ;p Or maybe thats the good part.. i dont know really ;-))) Honestly, its not that hot.. :p but ok..as you say, o wise one - 50%. Where will That get me?? ;o |

Of course i should have optimized my whole computer ;-)) Its sad to see me doing so little of the job - and let others do the most of it. I sure would have felt better with a desant Rac. But until then.. I`ll try to be happy for what i got; my slow computer - and a Great team! Because of You guys. ;-) ( this include members in Seti who cant come in here.. ) To everyone; |

Even more if we start getting some more WUs. My 3 ATI video cards spend most of their time idling. ;-o oh my.. sounds terrible! Have you tried that cake-trick Incognito told about? I would do it at once - at least you have done whats possible then. ;-)) Yes, everything is adding up, so thats super Chris - Have you pushed the ON-button yet?? hehe Anyhow - this is going way better than possible to belive. Today Sicituradastra is Team nr. 4 in MW by credit/day!!!!!! And in Boinc total nr.46 !! ;-D I`ll call that OptimiZed! Good Job! |

Well first you go here zslip Then click on the top centre link, optimised CPU etc which will show you the list of optimised apps. The bottom centre link, Optimised GPU etc, will just take you to what seems to be a placeholder page for the next batch of optimised apps designed specifically for MW_GPU. However, before you download an optimised app it will be worthwhile finding out some things about your laptop, like which, if any type of SSE instructions your CPU can use. Laptops generally use cheaper/less powerful/less power-hungry CPUS, and one of te ways of making a CPU that uses less power is to leave out the SSE instructions, [cheaper to build, = more profits too]. The best thing to use for this is CPU-Z. There is a link to this in the second white block in the table. As I expect that you are running Windows but don't have a high-end ati video card, a bit hard to fit ito most laptops, you will want a client from the first block of the table, OS=Windows 32/64 bit, Category=CPU. Choose version 0.19, and click on the appropriate SSE type in the Downloads column. OT - from you mention of cleaning it sounds like you work in some kind of holiday motel/hostel/whatever. Or do you just have a big house...? Cheers, PeterV . |

I have found that the SSE2 version works just as well as the SSE3 or SSSE3 etc. and most computers now run SSE2 The only real difference that you need to check is if you have a Windows 32 or Windows 64. Most people run Windows 32 - Optimizing is rather simple, once you do it a couple of times you will not want to go back to running regular apps. . |

Thats odd, I find that the SSE3 works better than SSE2..... |
