I d/led one of the CPU opti apps, the SSE3 one, a short while ago to try on one of my laptops. Yes, it does only contain 2 files [app_info.xml and astronomy_0.19_SSSE3.exe]. It seems that brook.dll is only needed by the GPU client, and the installation is so obvious that a readme wasn't required. Copied the files to the appropriate directory, stopped/restarted boinc, and i'm now crunching optimised. Unfortunately its only a grotty little dell inspiron amd turion 64 x2 [1800MHz], with 1G of ram, so its not a powerhouse. i keep it next to my tv to check the online tv guide. still, its worth some hundreds of rocks/day... Cheers, PeterV . |

Never underestimate a nice little laptop.. It can happen to do THE WU that is of high importance. ;-)) What do we know.. Well, until last days it has been all i had to crunch Mw.. so if no laptop - no Moon in this project. I`ll say a laptop at least is able to keep us alive in this Boinc-world. |

My laptops crunch just to stop them getting bored. My other 9 PCs are serious crunching machines. Just for comparison, my two laptops combined crunch about 900 cpdn rocks per day, one of my nehalems [i have 3] crunches almost 5,000 cpdn rocks per day. And if you want to increase your cpdn score [above zero], just ask and i'll give you tips. start with what you know about your laptop, eg kind/speed of cpu, amount of ram, amount of disk. We could take off from my place and parachute in to yours. Surely even your island is big enough to hold the team... plus cake. Leaving your place would best be done by boat - with the added weight of cake flying out would probably be impossible. OT - any more modding? I'm off to bed, see you in about 8hrs. Cheers, PeterV . |

As you see Eagle, its on the stage of planning - lots to find out of yet... As; Should everyone else go to Australia first, to take the same air plane to Norway? Can everyone parachute? How much chocolate cake does Peter plan to bake? Should everyone take their cruchers with them, to feed them with cake immediately? Will one day be enough? Will you, as foreigners, survive to stay on my island for more than one day? How shall you leave again? ;-))) |

Hehehe I'll let you know..... But yes, I will probably need a parachute, survival kit, directions, innoculations, endorsement on the passport, visa, luggage with 3 kg of chocolate cake, 2 litres of Baileys, 1 kg baccy, and a 4 litres of yellow paint ....... |
