He is a friend of mine. In fact some time ago we went on a vacation together - toured the Grand Canyon and some other area's. Is that the guy at a university who put all the pc's onto one login to save the admin time? |

Australia & New Zealand Army Corps. It originally dates back to WWI, but now celebrates any military action on behalf of the country. It is their equivalent of Remembrance Sunday & Poppy day in the UK. http://www.awm.gov.au/commemoration/anzac/ |

OK, its the glorification of some war that was over 30-odd years before i was born, and which i find very hard to get excited about. it might be relevant to those that were in the war, almost none still alive, but certain vested interests try to dress it up into some 'hate the foreigners' nationalistic thing. problem is that in that war, as in the couple of wars currently raging, it was 'us', the 'good guys', who invaded some foreign country and the locals merely sought to defend themselves from the invaders. Cheers, PeterV . |

OK, its the glorification of some war that was over 30-odd years before i was born, and which i find very hard to get excited about. ;-) See there.. I couldnt have found that answer on Google! ;-) I can understand what you mean.. Im not too happy with celebrations related to any war either. Here in Norway we still somehow celebrate when ww2 ended.. Of course it was great that we came out of it as a free country.. but most of them who did any actions back then are gone now. And we all Know about it.. so i feel thats enough. We can not "for ever" go ahead acting like the past is the most important. Instead We all have to be Told that the Future is the important. But maybe Im the only one who think that.....? ;p I know many says; "We shall not Forget!" .. but we dont. The story is told, and written down. We could as well celebrate we`re not in EU. hehe. (and each year we manage to keep outside of it;-)) |

Some things you can't find with google... :) of course that's just my opinion. I once mentioned the Treaty of Waitangi [british actually made a treaty with maoris [Ne Zealand natives] rather than just genociding them as they did in most other places they invaded] to Lightning [CPDN cruncher from New Zealand]. I was amazed by it, Lightning was bored. Perhaps we just had different perspectives on it. In the next couple of years you may be even more happy that you aren't part of the EU... and that your country has recently stopped selling its oil as fast as it could be pumped out of the ground, to leave at least some for the future. This is unlike britain, which pumped all its oil as fast as it could, and now has almost none left and has to go begging to russia for some gas to run the central heating in winter.. Cheers, PeterV . |

Yes, Im happy for it. But Im afraid that one day they manage to push us in.. Even if it shoudnt really be any question anymore, after 3 national votings for NO! Still, they continue to try, and will probably start another vote within few years.. I hope not though. I would think that a voting is a voting, and should tell for a long time, not being taken up again with each new bright-guy in the top-job ;p Oil.. yes. There still are pretty much, but they are talking about looking for and develop new fields. The most controversial in the Barents sea, right where the very important Northern Atlantic Cod is reproducing. You may say its a big conflict between two very important resources. I have no idea what the result may be in the end. Also Norway has this Oil-fund. But it decreased a lot this last months because of the bad world-economy.. Some stupid desition about putting too much of the fund into international stock market gave a pretty bad outcome. ;p I cant even write such a high ammount.. pPp Mmmhh.. I`ll have some more coffee, and then off to work. ;-) |

Im wondering what you people think about the new AriZonaMoon banner on my web-site.. ;p I have my reasons for wanting to change it, even if i liked it as it was..... Im curious - is it better or worse..? (please dont say; Cant be worse - hehehe - ok then... if you think so... ;-p ;-) (for info; you find it on main index, and also in my Art, my Photos, Moon-room and about-me index pages. |
