Any new news anyone about how MW GPU is developing?
Did Travis inadvertently created a Black Hole in which he got sucked in and disapeared from the surface of the earth?

Must have been working too close to the LHC (you really do need to ask yourselves why it blew up)

Seems right. I don't have any 38xx or 48xx cards in my configurations, I'm running three cards on GPUGrid -- 2 lowly 9400GT's and 1 9600GT.

So it looks like I just keep on doing 'normal' MW on my Radeons with Cluster's client for a while... and GPUGrid on my 9800s.

If this is true then he must be running another MW in a parallel time zone.
If someone could find a link to this time-zone then – maybe there will be work units there to download :)

I just wish I could get in one of the zones and get more work. The 4870's need to be fed. Very hungry!
Please get the MW_GPU up and running. Does the CUDA version really have to be first? CP can get the ATI version if only you'ld release the code. That would really help the project as a whole and free up some work for your CPU crunchers.
Come on and give us a break.

CUDA is the "politically correct" type of GPU project, hence as an official application, it does indeed have to be first, else it is not "officially sanctioned" in BOINC-land as dictated by David Anderson. The ATI application here was not produced in-house, and until ATI is an official part of BOINC, it never will be developed in-house by any project.

If the server code base is not ready, it won't matter one iota as to if an external programmer creates an ATI-specific 3rd party application. Additionally, changes to the server code if said server code is not stable, may require repeated changes to code of the client application, which several people here voiced extreme dislike of...the rapid-fire version changes.

I do sympathize with the full month of no news. I do think that is excessively long.

I know you probably don't want to hear this, but the same thing I said some time ago still applies. If you are not happy here, then you should perhaps try other projects until such time as things are available here. If you are only wanting to process tasks on a GPU, then unfortunately there are only a limited number of projects that support a GPU at this point and there may come times when your graphics card will be idle.

In regards to that, you'll note that I practice what I preach, as you can look and see that I'm active with Cosmology@Home, even despite their extremely long and memory intensive tasks and the significantly lower credit rate...

So we just keep on running Cluster's anonymous client for the time being...

Just wondering.
Does all the different BOINC projects, in general, think they have all the
computing power they need already so there is no meaning to put any efforts
in develop an GPU application?

Are you working on 0.19f instead of Cluster Physik ? ;)

He most likely meant that he is working on getting more information out for us. :)

Either is good, but yes, more work would be better. ;)

Nah thats not his task.
I love to see sometimes a update on where they are on developing, even if its not going like we all want ;)
Believe me it helps ofcourse i can't wait to see some progress but if not and be informed is also good for me.
The biggest mistakes in general made is not to inform people and it does not matter if thats not good news sometimes.
Although bad news can ofcourse get people talk alot, or even make them active on a forum again ;)

It's a balancing act between providing too little and too much information.

The "head in the sand mode" (too little) has the benefit of not having to deal with customers, however it has the drawback of making your customers feel that they are not valued.

The "open door policy" (too much) has the benefit of appearing to be attentive to customers, however it has the drawback of overly-demanding customers who want to know every single possible detail, thus you spend inordinant amounts of time discussing your decisions with customers rather than getting things done.

Is it a secret invasion from some other project?
