While using the ATI 3850 I'm now getting errors on all WU stating that the output file is missing. It used to work fine but then strated generating the error. I did read that it was related to not having dot net installed but going by the install / remove list in XP I have versions 1.1 ,1.1 Hotfix ,2.0 SP2 ,3.0 SP2 ,and 3.5 SP1. The graphics driver version according to XP is 8.432. I have tried several versions of the driver and even 9.4 was working originally. The ATI is not the primary Graphics card eg not the one connected to the monitor as an old PCI card is the primary. The required files have been renamed . As I said it was working great but I've now suspended the MW on that PC as it's a waste of time until I can get it working correctly again. Any ideas ? Many thanks. |

The ATI is not the primary Graphics card eg not the one connected to the monitor as an old PCI card is the primary. If a graphics card is not the primary adapter, one needs a monitor connected to it (connecting both cards to the same monitor is also okay, or a VGA dummy will do it). Otherwise the card is deactivated (the driver for it gets not loaded) and it is not available for use. Btw., Firestream cards don't have this limitation. Does anyone dare trying to mod his card into a Firestream (maybe a BIOS flash is enough)? |

OK I've changed the primary monitor setting to use the ATI card so hopefully next time I manage to get WU it'll work. I'll report back if it doesn't. Cheers. |

And if you're masochistic and/or handy with a soldering iron a quick google turned up this. Cheers, PeterV .
