Running Client 6.6.28 and although I do have an Nvidia CUDA enabled video card I am only interested in CPU tasks from Milkyway.

Where do I specify my preferences because apparently according to the message logs I'm not asking for CPU tasks?

There isn't a spot. But I think the problem lies somewhere in Boinc 6.6. I believe that it is aware of your Cuda card and is asking to get work for it and not your cpu.
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.

Yeah well nothing on my end changed from yesterday and I didn't have this problem then!

And again ... still nothing has been changed on my end and all of a sudden I'm back to the standard "No Work Available" messages ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Looks like someone's playing with the server. Maybe Travis was trying out the CUDA app.??

It would be nice to have an update on the state of play. Last "News" item is dated April 11th. on this site, and there are those famous words "Almost there.." on the GPU site.

Dave? Travis? Are you there?

Yea must be something with the server. With some new helpers possibly they are seeing what things do.

Kind of reminds me of HAL@HOME. You get a couple of hours of work and then "NO WORK FROM THE SERVER." Next, you have to wait a couple of days to get more work. Sounds like a government run project, in my opinion. Just a couple of laughs. Thankfully there are other projects that need assistance too.

There are work fetch bugs and LTD bugs in, as near as I can tell, ALL versions of 6.6.x extant and in use. Exactly how they manifest and what the messages say varies over time and that adds to the confusion.

The "Simplification" of the "confusing" work fetch (asking for x seconds of work) is another in a long line of bone headed decisions by UCB that hopefully will be reversed in the near future.

THAT said, the LTD bugs can cause the system to start to act "starved" for one side or the other and when that happens you get those messages and a short work queue that rarely has the balance of work desired.

Sometimes resetting the debts can correct this, though not without screwing up other things, but at least your queue should be back in balance.

The depressing news it that no one is looking at this specific issue at this time (that I know of). I am still trying to get them to finish up with the resource scheduler and then to move on to the RR Sim as that is the driver for both resource scheduling and work fetch. The even more depressing news is that we are once more getting the "we are so overworked" story again ( Sorry, but true) which would be undestandable if code patches that are submitted are ignored, partially rewritten with important parts being left out, or dismissed out of hand as being an issue.

Unlike the three bears story (sorry, got fairy tales on the mind, they mostly had happy endings where the children were eaten by wolves) where there was a "just right" size, alas ...

1) Your log files are too big
2) Your log files are too small or you did not set all the flags I wanted (see #1)
3) Your log files are just right and they prove your contention but I am going to dismiss it out f hand because I don't want to think about it (was Gone With The Wind a fairy tale? Close enough I guess).

It is enough to drive one to drink which is likely a good thing because I had to give up driving ... and I could use the ride ...

1. GPU work : there is no GPU app for the moment. It's under construction.

2. CPU work : have a look to the thread "Why is it so hard to get work?"
