if you have a CUDA card, running it on GPU would be painless (term used loosely given it's current state of support in BOINC)

lol i would not recommend anyone other then boinc freaks like most i know here to run a cuda project because most of these projects have been having trouble in one way or another. They all are alpha/beta projects
The only project which runs good on all gpu cards including ati's is folding@home, it probably runs well since it doesn't use mr.andersons toy ;)
Its new, its relative fast... my new bicycle

I never had cuda crunching problems on the BFG GTX295(unless I used some 2.2 cuda dll files that were made by a 3rd party, My card is a 1.3 card) and Seti has them in stock and optimized gpu apps for any 8xxx(8500 & up), 9xxx, 1xx and 2xx type cards, Seti had server/bandwidth problems of course, But not all the time and thats why a cache is used as the project was designed to be able allow users to crunch for as long as their cache holds out if there are problems over at Seti due to servers going out of sync and on the PC Per Killer Frogs I was the 4th fastest cruncher and that's was with 1 PC.

Just to add my two cents. I most likely will stick with this project rather than switching to the GPU-only project. Why? Because I assume that the same will happen as happened e.g. with Folding@Home or GPUGrid: The WUs will be too big to be processed within the deadline.

I switch off the computer at night, so the crunching really only takes place while I'm actually use my computer for not playing games. So often enough the deadline e.g. for a WU of Folding@Home is reached before this huge thing is calculated through. The CPU-based WUs of M@H are perfect for this type of usage. With the bigger sizes that are currently delivered, one WU takes between 30 seconds up to one minute. So you can easily wait for the end of one calculation-round before shutting down the computer.

I tend to agree, but I'd be happy with 5 to 10 minute wu's. Units at 400 minutes long would definitely cause me issues.

comment concerning this thread: Future ATI Card Support:
I had little worries when I try to install sss3.tar.gz for linux from MilkyWay forums. It was not running.
I'd to be able to restart boinc and no apparent damages. I don't know how, I'm not computer scientist.
I think I will wait a boinc official version for ATI cards.

it was really not running.
I'd must quit and reload project.
It's apparently fine now with normal 0.18 version.
Is anybody listen to me?

The Linux version you downloaded is just the official CPU app build with the Intel Compiler (and at least as fast as the official version). It does not use a GPU at all.

The most common mistake with the Linux version is that one forgets to change the file permissions, i.e. to set the executable flag for the application. And before you copy the application together with the app_info.xml to the MW folder you have to quit BOINC.

This risky operation has apparently not alter SETI task who was present in the same time. It's important for me because I'm not crunch a lot of tasks, then I make interest for each one.
I think I will continue to crunch with my actual 0.18 version for the moment... and going to bed.
Thanks for your advice and response.
