okay, so I am having a hard time logging in and everytime I try to add myself to V club or the milky way team It just doesn't happen. So can anyone help me figure what is gooing on please, meaning my account with Milky way? Much thanks to all of you whom have visited me while in such crisis. Just wish it could a different situation. Thank you Brenda ******L

You are already on a team. I don't think you can be on two teams at once. As for the log in, try selecting the box to stay logged in.

Yes but on two different projects. But I believe it's limited to one team per project. Otherwise how would the credits be split to each team for each project.

All very nice-

You guys could do a really cool screen saver based upon your subject matter.

Screen savers are not just toys for us graphics fanatics. They help us sell the idea of BOINC to co-workers in our offices who stroll by our desks when they should be working. I got two others in my office because of screen savers. One guy was attracted by WCG's Help Conquer Cancer, the other by Einstein@home.

You guys should be able to do something really cool.

>>RSM

I was just thinking the same thing. Even if the Screen Saver was a generic one like LHC@home it would be better than nothing.

Trying to achieve a 0.0 seems to be almost impossible
The larger the look the more of picture is percieved with best accuracte large picture, but the close up "zoomed in" is only seen in one spot at a time
Quauntum Physic insimple term would the be the more closly you look at a object or a small spot the less time you have to get a good formula but a larger picture give's you a picture of it over greater time with less resolution but great under standing of its shifts and movements of the object or area compared to other objects or area. Well there is alot more but basic is trading one for the other. I have been toying with ideas but yet to resolve this problem. A -1.2 would be a acheivement. Never the less 0.0 would be a great goal.

What's going on with the graph's appearing and disappearing on the home page?

Also how are these searches turning out? I assume it has changed since June.

how is the research going? I'm sure we've mapped a lot more in one year

A classic demonstration of throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks. It is good some of it has stuck so there is a path to better sticking. I have been involved in math modelling since 1967 and know what spaghetti throwing means. No blame.

I have to think a lot on the the basic explanation and approach you give but as some things have stuck it has to be on the right track. But I question that is has stuck. You still give visual examples of that appears to be happening. Does the data match the predictions without knowing the distribution of dark matter? The images cannot be correct without knowing the distribution of DM.

I guess I am still missing the basic point of showing such images yet not knowing the distribution of DM but assuming there is none -- or is that my error?

I am not expecting any answers now. I have not spent enough time on your post to say anything credible about it.

You are not alone fellow user in looking for update. Just posting to bump, possibly getting attention before another 6 months rolls around before the next post.

And yes, screen savers are the last thing needed and a waste (although it would probably be cool.

Have there been scientific papers written on using the MilkyWay@HOME results? When is the next scientific paper going to be written? Also, I have a hypothesis about the universe and would a scientist to look it over.

Thx,
Tom

Hello,

Thanks for the question. We are currently working on publishing a paper that maps the Sagittarius Tidal Stream using Milkyway@home results. Writing and submitting papers is long process, but we will definitely let you know when it is accepted for publication.

Does it take into account the gravitational effects of dark matter?

Interesting explanation... sort of

Would possibly make a lot more sense if the pictures were displayed.... ALL the image links are dead.

This thread is outdated... I'm considering unstickying it. The reason the links don't show up is because John Vickers used his student webspace at RPI to host the images; now that he's graduated, that webspace has ceased to exist. I'll try to get in touch with him and get the images back (I don't remember what they all looked like).

I'm trying to find the time to write an updated summary, but it's very difficult right now - I'm in the middle of several projects, and Milkyway@home is just one of those. I'll bump the update up a few notches in my queue.
