Can't write state file-thread closed

I've seen this briefly before but it didn't seem to matter. Now, BOINC won't connect at all or is only connected very very briefly. I guess none of my WUs are getting crunched right now and nothing complete is getting uploaded. Anyone else experiencing a similar problem or have suggestions of how to get things moving again?
