Fortunately I have got a second computer with nvidia gpus so it's not that bad right now. I can use amd gpus for einstein, primegrid and amicable numbers quite nicely.

I have the exact same problem with my RX6600 on Ubuntu 22.10. Installed the latest drivers using amdgpu-install. It runs handsomly on Einstein and PrimeGrid, but no luck with Milkyway.
