Posted 3 May 2015 by Simon Post: So after leaving my computer run all night (and almost half a day) making calculations for Milkyway@Home I noticed a certain task that had been running on all of my 4 CPU cores and for almost 17 hours straight despite being at 100% according to BOINC. I aborted this task and didnt bother to do any research, a few hours pass by, I check my account and past tasks and by curiosity i check that workunit that had run for 17 hours on my machine ... http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/workunit.php?wuid=748201419 I'm not the first one that aborted this task, infact, everyone has.( one person even let it run for a whopping 5 days and a half before aborting) I have absolutely no idea how everything works on the backend as i'm really new to this whole BOINC thing ( been here for aboout 2 days ) but couldnt this task simply be taken out? cause it basically clogged up my system for a considerable amount of time and didnt allow it to continue on other tasks. |
