New Server Update
(Message 68433)
Posted 27 Mar 2019 by mmonnin Post: Vortac and wb8ili, I am seeing the same as wb8ili and I described it above: It seems like I can't get any work until my queue runs completely dry and then I'll download 200 more tasks. Those 200 will complete and the queue will continue to drop. Tasks are being reported immediately but no tasks are downloaded to keep the queue topped off. If I try to manually update I'm just told the last request was too recent. That continues until everything is gone, I run a couple of tasks from a backup project and then I can update to get 200 more tasks. The older server would keep tasks at 80 pretty much at all times without user intervention. |

Task Validated But No Credit Given
(Message 68354)
Posted 22 Mar 2019 by mmonnin Post: >>> All the questions here have answers in other threads. No, if you have a question, spend 5min to read the couple of threads at any given forum instead of wasting someone else's time. No one's going to beg you to stay. And there was more than 1 question nor was my post directed solely at any one person. I didn't even quote you. |

New Server Update
(Message 68313)
Posted 21 Mar 2019 by mmonnin Post: I think I found the issue with the credit assignment. It seems that the newest BOINC server version no longer supports how we would set the credit per workunit. Should be a pretty easy fix, I am working on an implementation now. Is it supposed to be about 100 points lower then before? I'm seeing a static value of 133.62 while the old ones varied slightly depending on task length at 227.17 and 243.61. Run times seem the same. |

Planned Server Outage Tuesday March 19th
(Message 68270)
Posted 18 Mar 2019 by mmonnin Post: There are still 170k workunits outstanding (on people's computers getting crunched.) Sorry if it wasn't clear, but this was what I was trying to minimize. Still 161k 8 hours later. Cancel them and send out to only GPUs with a 1 day deadline. If they haven't completed yet they most likely won't before tomorrow. Some will end up needing to go out again. Most of the ones I have left to be verified are on at least their 3rd task. |

AMD FirePro S9150
(Message 68179)
Posted 20 Feb 2019 by mmonnin Post: @BeemerBiker: There is thread somewhere about Nvidia Titan V running MH. In that thread, the author mentions about each WU uses about 1.5GB of VRAM. So you can run about 6 WUs on a S9100 (12GB) or 8-10 WUs on S9150 (16GB). That's an NV card though, which ends up using much more VRAM than the same task on an AMD card. 4x tasks in Win10 on my 280x is only using ~250 VRAM according to GPU-Z. Chalk it up to NV and OpenCL. The TV can't be fully utilized because if it but the Vega 7 or S9100 should be able to, esp with 16 and 12 GB of VRAM. |

(Message 68125)
Posted 9 Feb 2019 by mmonnin Post: We need a bigger limit allowed for WUs in progress for GPUs with this daily database issue. 600 doesn't cut it with multiple Tahiti based GPUs in 1 PC. Run multiple clients. If you're running 4x concurrently with 1 client then run 4x clients with 1 task. 600 per client then. |

Posted 8 Feb 2019 by mmonnin Post: I thought I heard the cards will all be reference design/cooling. If there's going to be limited supply there's little desire for partners to redesign the board/cooling. |
