You can change it yourself in app_config under gpu_versions.

what does your "app_config" for MW look like?

Are you using "project_max_concurrent" or perhaps "max_concurrent" ?

Just a thought ...

Have you checked the "event log" ?
There should be, for example, at start-up of BOINC a line with
11/27/2022 9:18:30 AM | | Config: use all coprocessors

Sure you placed the cc_config in the correct file?

I can't think of anything else ...

Have a nice Sunday

That is truely the best way!

What I prefer to show others, or even for myself, is to learn the exact way to get to something.
Usually, while doing it the hard way, one finds other interesting things ...
Or learns how to go about finding other things ...

Maybe I'm just old fashioned!

Cheers

As to be found in

___ BOINC MANAGER
_____ Tools
_______ BOINC Help
__________ USER Manual
_____________ Running BOINC: advanced
________________Client configuration
___________________ Configuration files
______________________ Options
_________________________ <use_all_gpus>0|1</use_all_gpus>

---> If 1, use all GPUs (otherwise only the most capable ones are used). Requires a client restart.

Hope I listed the instructions to get there correctly.

I am beginning to wonder if some long run Nbody WU’s will ever get validated. I have one that I completed, throughout its life back in September it has been Aborted twice, failed to start on time 3 times and is now back “in progress “. Have to wonder how many more there are like this.

I've been having many N-Body long-runs for weeks. Up to 24 hours on my "old" and "slow" PC.
Never had to wait very long for validation.
So no problems that I, personally, can see.

P.S. "Waiting for what?" -- as mentioned elsewhere, they seem to be waiting for the IT people to sort out the migration...

Well, I read the post in such a way, that I understood that the IT-team is ready (finished) and the iT-team is waiting ... (for what to happen?).
I guess I misunderstood the posting?

Tom already said the problem is not enough memory in the current Server but the IT people are in charge of moving the stuff over to the new Server they already have ready and waiting

Hmmm, waiting for what?

Validation is still happening just at a very slow pace so if one stops crunching a reduction in one's Validation Pending is to be expected. Even without stopping there are occasional temporary reductions. However, users stopping is likely to slow things down even more as there will be even less machines doing the little validation that is happening.

Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that things will get fixed until after the server migration.

I haven't ran N-Body much over the last few months. Is N-Body validation also a problem or is it just Separation?

N-Body validation is doing fine and has been all along -- As I have mention a few times already.
The only problem N-Body has, is the extrem long running time of each task since a few weeks.
But, as Tom said, it is a known problem and they are working on it.

I wish fellow crunchers would specify in their post which project they are referring to.

Have a look at "server status".

Be aware of the fact that the (local) preferences set, are for ALL of the projects running (actively)
at the same time on this one particular PC.

Keep crunching ...

Perhaps you should abort all the tasks in the queue, because they will probably time out.
AND after you changed the preferences don't forget to "read local prefs" under "options" or restart BOINC - otherwise the changed prefs will not be activated ...

Is there a way I can set the project so I don't have this issue? The No New Task setting is only a temporary fix. This issue just cropped on recently also which makes me think there has been a change.

Reduce the amount of tasks in your queue.
Under "Options" --> "Computing preferences" --> "Store at least X days of work"
and "Store up to an additional X days of work".
Start with 0.1 and 0.1 respectively.
Then work your way up - till you get just few task in your queue.
That way you avoid running into deadlines.

Tasks are running much longer than previously.
Sometimes up to 24 hours and more - especially on "slow" PCs.

Hope this helps ...
