I get around 120 seconds on my old milkyway workhorse from day 1, my powercolor Radeon HD 5850 overclocked to 875mhz. Recently got a 2nd one cheap on Ebay. My computers should be public. Impressive how these old cards still seem to beat whatever when i check my results in runtime. The "new" 5850 runs a lot hotter... Maybe its the years of 24/7 Milkyway running burn in that is missing. Impressive old Hardware, but i gotta stop running them too much, may be cheap on ebay, but not on the powerbill :)

But fix the amount of credit for the future, as it seems to be lower than before. Maybe you can give out a badge for people affected with a loss. Its like we donated cpu/gpu power to science and all we got was some badge :)

I agree, no big deal. Not worth opening a potential can of worms by altering something with the credit. Glad it got fixed fast and everything gets updated!

Maybe you can have luck with cleaning it, i would try that first. I am not sure what the best methods are, back in the early days i think i revived a fan with some silocon oil.

Nvidia cards run hot. I have a 5850 taking 110 seconds for a a WU and its at 68° even after days or crunching (while beeing in the same pc as a Q6600 overclocked to 3ghz). But then with a card that can do cuda you have a lot more options on crunching. But if you are concerned with heat and power consumption ATI/AMD seems to be the better choice.

I run Spinhenge@Home on my CPU and you are right. Normaly my GPU is between 90 and 95% usage but when i turn off cpu tasks it goes to 99% and shaves a few seconds off. Now i am fiddeling around with settings and project preferences to maybe find a way to keep my 5850 at 99% while doing cpu work and maybe just loose those few seconds on the CPU tasks were it would matter even less.

On the other hand, 99% GPU usage? Wow! Has there been an update or was Milkyway always this efficient? Also looking at my stats it seems i am getting more credit from milkyway than ever before. I think its mostly because of no recent outtages and all working so well but i was wondering why i am nearly getting 100k more now for a few days than most of the last year.

It really should not be so hard to automaticly restart what is failling every day or 2 days or so. Most MMOs that i played over the years also have a daily downtime to prevent stuff like this. (totally different application, but i guess the problem is sort of the same).
