OK... so here we go...

OSX optimized applcations

Have fun :)

Crunch3r: Thanks for the optimized app! My MBP 2.17GHz Core Duo was taking between 758 sec/WU and 916 sec/WU. The first 12 completed with your optimized app took 480 sec/WU.

My g5 (2.0 GHz, I think) dual does 12.4, and my Intel MacBookPro 2.16GHz does 12.7, and my iBook G4 1.67 GHz does 45.6 The G5 and Intel are on Tiger, and the iBook is on Leopard...

It seems to be a server problem...just leave the thing running and connected, and eventually, all will upload.

As banditwolf said, abort any WU that fail to complete downloading AND abort the transfer. As soon as I did that, I got my full 20 WU.

Thank you!! I've been trying to get new work all day and three units refused to download.

the milkyway app is pretty computationally intensive -- is your BOINC limiting CPU usage?

Interesting...on my MacBookPro Core Duo, the CPU temperatures routinely run a few degrees cooler under Milkyway@home than under SETI...

My G5 appears to complete a WU in the same amount of time with either 1.12 or 1.13. My MacBookPro Core Duo, though, takes about 5% less time with 1.13 than it did with 1.12.

No apparent errors or problems with the G5, G4, MGP, or old iMac (333MHz)

Do you think this will be of use to MilkyWay@home?

29) Message boards : Number crunching : server really back up (Message 802)

Most WU are completing and receiving credit. However, all my successful completions have this error in the output:

<core_client_version>5.10.28</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<stderr_txt>
APP: error writing checkpoint (resolving checkpoint file) -108
output_path: astronomy_checkpoint

</stderr_txt>

It doesn''t seem to affect validation or credit, but thought I should mention it anyway.

At 1502 EST today, the 1.12 app downloaded and started crunching. A couple of computation errors showed up, but most WU seem to be crunching ok.

I'm currently running the 1.10 version on a MacBookPro and the app link says "Mac OS 10.4 or later running on Intel 1.11 28 Nov 2007 3:23:56 UTC" and "The current version of the application will be downloaded to your computer. " It isn't happening. I continue to get messages that say the app is requesting more work, but getting 0 new tasks, and no new app is downloading.

This is not a complaint - just information that might help the project.
