1) Message boards : Number crunching : WUs stucks with 'Completed, validation inconclusive' status (Message 72816)

The second task will get sent... Eventually

You're confident about this? I haven't had a single confirmation of an inconclusive WU in a couple of days so let's see, based on the number of outstanding WU's I'm guessing 2024, but hey I guess that falls under 'eventually.' Doesn't instill confidence.

Some reason why these don't get priority? Seems to me the focus should be on WU's already completed. When a project can't mind the store with old WU's what does that say about prospects for the new ones? At any time there could be another crash and I haven't seen ANY provisions to address it other than a call for funds which may be insufficient. And I'll say what many are thinking .. while the software and hardware are contributors, competence has been lacking also.

This is how the feeder works. The output of the SQL query is First In First Out and so with that in mind, the task IDs are incrementing sequentially when a tasks marked inconclusive it gets added to the end of the task table and that is what we're seeing. I've got tasks generated on the 15th of March still going, and it'll be a while before it gets to the 16th of March for example.

👍

I have 152 N-Body WUs sitting in my account with status 'Completed, validation inconclusive'

Here's an example

Looks like task for wingman was never sent.

I get the same on my RX560 under openSUSE Linux. It seems the Linux application part is buggy. I've opened a ticket on github where the code is hosted but no reply yet

Drivers are available and they can be installed but OpenCL part doesn't work well with BOINC.

Since I've never done N-body, I am not sure what the app name for it is. Likely just nbody.

The app name for the Milky Way N-body simulator is "milkyway_nbody". Hope this helps.

Thanks. Worked perfect.

Hello,

I would like to run one 'N-Body Simulation' and two 'Separation' tasks at once.
Would this configuration be correct?

<app_config>
   <app>
      <name>N-Body Simulation</name>
      <max_concurrent>1</max_concurrent>
      </app>
<app>
      <name>Separation</name>
      <max_concurrent>2</max_concurrent>
      </app>
</app_config>

>>> All the questions here have answers in other threads.

What you say there is possibly true, but if, as I, you are connected to many projects, reading all threads on all forums at all projects would take more than a day per day.

The solution for me, is to reduce the number of projects I support, the ones I drop first are the ones that "irritate".

No, if you have a question, spend 5min to read the couple of threads at any given forum instead of wasting someone else's time. No one's going to beg you to stay. And there was more than 1 question nor was my post directed solely at any one person. I didn't even quote you.

We should not forget that sometimes forums can be 'littered' with same questions asked multiple times in different way. This can be annoying for some people.

I agree with what you said about reading few posts. It doesn't hurt to try and find solution yourself in first place if there is one available.

Thanks for pointing it out, Marsinph. It was spelling error, that all.

No credit was awarded despite tasks were completed and validated.
