I Have the same issue. However the errors only occur on milkyway@home. Both Einstenm@home and SETI@home run fine with the 13.4 catalyst driver and boinc 7.0.28 (x64) combination. may be its a bad batch of work units, or the gpu apps for milkyway are not compatiple with this combination.

OK. Even after uninstalling and then wiping with driver sweeper ther were still several files left behind and all of them were part of OpenCL.

http://devgurus.amd.com/thread/160303

The Catalyst installation doesn't over write a file if it already exists, if the version is the same. So if a file gets corrupted reinstalling drivers doesn't fix the corrupted file.

AMD knew this but did not fix their uninstaller to solve the issue. They did make a cleaning utility that will fix this. The only drawback is it also removes chipset, and other driverfiles for their motherbord hardware as well. So you will have to reinstall all AMD/ATI drivers thsat you have on your system.

The file is for Windows 7 ONLY!! There are reports of it messing up windows 8 to the point of having to reinstall windows.

http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/catalyst-uninstall-utility.aspx

OpenCL is now working as it should again.

the account it was installed on is the only account on the computer so yes i'm running it on the same account. Also boinc was not installed protected installation or service checked.

I have ben having this problem for about a year now. It makes no difference what version of boinc or GPU drivers I use, and boinc is the only program that can't find the GPU.

After a restart of windows Boinc reports a missing GPU. If I exit boinc and reinstall the drivers (for my AMD/ATI 6950 GPU) and then restart boinc, It works fine until the next time windows restarts and then I have to exit boinc and reinstall the drivers and then restart boinc again.

At least I can still run my projects but I'm getting frustrated with having to reinstall drivers every time I run an update that requires a restart of the computer.

Does anyone have any Ideas of how I can solve this issue? Maybe s setting in the registry or something.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate X64 on an ASUS Crosshair V Formula with an AMD 1100T processor, 16 GB Ram, and an ASUS EAH6950 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5 that has been flashed to a 6970 on the 13.1 drivers with version 7.0.62 (X64).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I was experiencing issue with the catalyst 12.1 drivers.

BOINC would report no compatible GPU for my unlocked 6950.

Had to downgrade drivers to 11.9 and run the 1.02 app_info.xml from Arkayn, to get it to run GPU tasks.

12.1 is not all that stable I would get crashes in several of my game with it as well.

All was well with n_body WUs last night.

Now they all error out.

Looks like you (and your wingmen)had the -177 problem.
You can find that in the Stderr output;
<message>
Maximum elapsed time exceeded
</message>

Max elapsed time exceeded after

Run time 1.14 sec.
CPU time 2.56 sec.

Run times were around 25min each and completing successfully now I'm excedding max time I don't really understand how this can be.

as for the -177 problem what is it and how can I fix it? A reboot didn't help. changing the app_info file --nthread=2 from 1 thru 4 has had no effect. I'm about to try to detach and reattch and see if that will help, as soon as my gpu finishes its tasks.

Ok now all n_body tasks are erroring with a computing error. When I finally started getting the n_body WU they were running fine about 25 min each run time and when I got up today they all ended like this:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<core_client_version>6.10.60</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>

</message>
<stderr_txt>
<search_application>milkywayathome nbody 0.40 Windows x86_64 double OpenMP Crlibm</search_application>

</stderr_txt>
]]>

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Max time exceeded after

Run time 1.14 sec.
CPU time 2.56 sec.

can A WU really be completed in this short of a time?

A reboot did not help with this.

My Problem with the 0.62 WU erroring is getting better some still error but most are completing abd validating now.

I think that they are producing alot of bad WUs again. After checking these and noticing that the same WU after being sent to a secound computer were also erroring. not positive though some have errored out on 2 or three other computers but validate on others.

I running at 63C right now on an unlocked HD6950 DirectCUII the one from ASUS that has the 2 100mm fans. I'm running at the cards at stock speed of 810/1250 have been for a week now. I use to run it at the 950/1350 OC but I didn't get over 66C when I ran it then. I don't really know why it is reporting that it is still running at that speed. All of completed WU are saying that I'm running at that speed even when I'm not OCing.

ok I just needed to wait I guess. I'm getting the n_body WU now. But for some strange reason I started getting a rash of validate errors on my 0.62s about 30 min before getting the n_body WU Don't know what up with that.

server status shows over 500 wu waiting to send for n_body but none will download to my computer. Is there anythingelse I can do to get this this app up and running. maybe some preference somewhere that is required. Under messages boinc 6.10.60 states that it is requesting a cpu task but none are being sent not even 0.50 WUs

My work laptop seems to be getting 0.50 WUs, with no app_info since My GPU doesn't meet the requirements for 0.62 app, but it is not receiving n_body WUs either.

I'm running new ati14 app and the Asus driver on a non-reference 6950 Direct CUII card due to ati's driver are not compatible with this card asus has modified the 11.2 drivers to work with this card and it is the only drivers that I can get to work on this card. I have noticed that all of my WU's that are erroring out are the de_seperation_17_3s_fix_4_ ones, two of these that I have run ran for over 20+ minutes and still showed 0.000% complete. (7 out of 9 WU of this run errored within 1 second and the other 2 would show any progress.) I've been completeing WUs in about 80-90 seconds up until now. I am now running de_seperation_13_3s_fix_1_, de_seperation_13_3s_free_1_, and de_seperation_10_3s_free_1_ and all seems normal and they are validating.
