are the windows popup messages still happening?

Yes - I have one machine soley running Milkyway. The machine in question is an experiment itself considering it is running WIN98 on an AMD K6/166 with Boinc 5.10.28.

Had two today
Result 916631
Result 922215

It's interesting how the files get stuck in the same position on the progress meter in the transfers tab:

Parameters file is always at 32.36%
Stars file is at 0.00%
Volume file is at 100.00%

Even though the volume.txt file is at 100% it is still in the transfer tab. I have to abort some downloads because they were not being recognized as being downloaded at the client but the server would say I had the WU for hours. I wonder if the scheduler is clearing out the files to fast after the transfer? I am just shooting spitballs here. Anybody else got an idea?

These should be fixed, tell me if it doesn't work or if there are any new errors. Thanks!

Found this on the "Computer Summary" page:
Notice: Undefined property: connect_frac in /export/share0/www/boinc/milkyway/html/inc/host.inc on line 132

No need to worry about the code right now but just thought I should point it out since I found it while looking for those exit code wu's.

Are there other issues here besides the server being overwhelmed by requests?

thats weird, has this happened multiple times or just once?

This happened on two of my machines.
Result ID 41820 on Host 916 and the other Result ID 210 on Host 214
Interesting the second one is WUID 22 and 13 others failed as well along with a download error and finally one success.

Hope this helps.

I may have spoken to soon on the other thread but, it still appears that the stars.txt and volume.txt files are hanging up on download. I know that during the night(~11:30pmCST) when I was on the website that the website locked up with too many concurrent connections. So maybe there is a problem with too many people trying to download the files at once.

They all look good. I'll leave you alone so that you can get the generator working so that everybody else can be happy. Don't forget to enjoy the weekend.

All of the updates are looking good and don't forget that you have a bunch of Alpha Testers here that can help you through some of the rough spots of getting everything working. Just give them some work and they will dissect the problems with you. Only problem is that your project is public knowledge now and you have a lot of people attached at the moment that are expecting fully working work units. Till this project is up in full production I would recommend that you post on the front page the current alpha/beta stage with a warning that some work units will fail and not give credits. That should help for those credit hounds.

Of course, if you do not stay here for your graduate work you could always run Boinc and crunch from afar. Good luck.

Hello and welcome to the next meeting of the ATA group.
My name is Barbud and I have a problem.
I do not have enough processors to process all of the work that is available.
I am currently on the 3rd step of fixing this problem.
My next step is to win the lottery.

If you would like something done or changed, could you post it here. I know I've responded to some of you, but it will be easier if all the requests are made here, that way I have one place to look to make sure I'm covering all of your requests! Thanks!!

Can you merge the Message Board and Q/A board into one board? It would make it easier when looking for answers and for the future moderators.
