I have had no troubles at all with the new separation units, unlike the old ones, using a Radeon 6950 OC. Thanks and happy crunching! :)

I am glad! I am running the AMD app and I have had a few that don't error out, they just stop, but continue "running", stopping the machine from moving to the next work unit. I hope the fix is good. Thanks and keep up the good work! :D

Thank you Matthew! The project has been so stable as of late, that at first glance I thought it was a problem at my end lol! Keep up the great work and happy crunching :)

I have upgraded my BOINC version to 6.12.34, inserted the app_info.xml file in the milkyway@home project directory as instructed (downloaded from the link kindly supplied by arkayn), and am still not getting any WU's. If there is anything else that I can check or may have done wrong, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I'm not entirely sure what the app_info.xml file I just inserted in the milkyway@home project directory actually does. I understand about downloading the application and the fact that older BOINC versions don't necessarily recognise graphics hardware as appropriately OpenCL capable, but what I'm not clear on is what the app_info.xml file does with regard to correcting this. Will the one app_info.xml file be universal to all machines utilising AMD graphics cards that are OpenCL capable? Does my CPU type, clock, core number, or my PC's operating system not require any tweak to the app_info to make this application run properly?

Thanks to everyone for the support on this forum and I would appreciate any reply I can get, because I'm confused and just trying to figure out if I've done something wrong trying to get work for this project. I just want to help! Milkyway is a great project, happy crunching everyone!

...still no love for Macs with 2GB single precision gpus...sigh...

No PC's with single precision GPUs either mate.... just sayin'...

I would second the notion that there may be a work generation problem. I left my machine crunching last night and it seems like at one point the server gave up sending work units. My machine finished all the tasks in the queue and the server repeatedly sent the message "no work available". Eventually my machine "stopped" requesting work from the server and was without anything to do for a few hours until I hit update for the project myself, when the server gave me another 20 WUs.

I know my preferences are not set to accept CPU units... I have tried tinkering with the preferences and I've reset the project twice and detached/reattached, but can't get GPU work. Anyone know if I'm doing something wrong or if there's some sort of bug that hasn't been worked out?

I don't know if it matters, but it's work for an NVIDIA GPU.

The "not to accept cpu units" message is a 'status message' informing you of your choice that is all. Dr. Anderson of Seti, and the main programmer of Boinc, says the message is important to newbies and therefore stays. Just ignore it.

Yes, I gather it would be useful if you had no idea what you're doing, but I have to admit seeing it over and over again after being told there isn't any work available is frustrating.... My AMD card has been crunching all night and Milkyway will just NOT give this machine units. I don't know what the matter is with it, but I will give it a bit more time and see if maybe it comes around. The only other thing I can think of trying is reinstalling BOINC, and doubt that will even do any good.

What it is telling you is that it only has Nbody work currently. It is nothing on your end.

Thanks for the reply, have they just put that back up first then and no separation WUs? Any word on when? Sorry to bombard with questions, I'm just curious, though it killed the cat I know...

EDIT: Ugh something weird must be going on because my other machine with an AMD GPU just got a bunch of separation WUs, I guess I will have to be patient but it's making me crazy.
