1) Message boards : Number crunching : Statistics Date Wrong (Message 58237)

I've thought of that already, and have even reset that Windows 7 clock on the desktop. I removed the entire Boinc program, or so I thought, and reinstalled to a different location, but it's the same... flat line with 01, Jan 1970. I'm stumped. ^..^~~

On one of the computers I'm running MW@H, stats show a flat line and the date is Jan 1, 1970? What's up here? I've reset and updated the program and installed into different locations but it changed nothing. ^..^~~

I brought a new (used) computer online yesterday thinking to run just the CPU, work units that haven't been so touchy. With two cores and taking almost 5 hours to run... what does it do? It "computational errors out" on the second piece of work it manages to run... only after running the entire 5 hours.

What a waste of my time, my energy, everything.

One of my computers that I cannot ever remember doing a "computational error" is now doing so...

And to those of you who thought to change drivers, I did the same thing; it was to no avail.

Is somebody going to answer the "magically disappear" question that was asked here? I'm also anxious to hear what the eta is on normal computer work.

Usually I don't have to "closely" monitor my systems to make sure all is good, and so I was a bit lax in doing so the last several days. Holy Smokes! When I finally checked all systems to see how things were going it was a disaster!

So yes, some credit should be given for all of the faulty workloads that failed to crunch correctly due to programming errors. After all, add up all of the wasted computer time and electricity wasted, not to mention the mental stress of trying to get everything back to normal. (Yes, surprise...! many of us take this quite seriously.) And from what I can determine, there are still some problems. How many days has this gone on? And how many others out there tend to feel the same way?

What could be the problem with the "XP" system!? Could I be running it too hard, it gets hot and then errors, or is that even a logical conclusion? The two systems are almost identical hardware-wise. They are both extremely stable (AFAIK)! The big difference is that the XP unit has a GTX 460 and the W7 a GTX 560. Ummm, that's not all now that I think about it. The XP is running an Intel Q6600 and the W7 a Q6700.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention though.

I'm going to disable crunching of all "n-body" because 15% of them are ending up in error.

Yeah, I fumbled the cache settings and stranded work all over my computer in different places. It was so bad that by reloading the program and then deleting it would not clean it all up. I had to completely remove the program, do a registry clean, reload it, and start all over, this time indexing the correct location for the cache. I'm going to end up with LOTS of aborted runs!

Same here. Work is coming in a sporadic manner. Usually, the last few days, I cannot get the program to update and load new work. It's happening (or NOT happening lol!) right now.

I figured 50Gb of disc space to be enough but I'm new here and I haven't the slightest idea how much space BOINC needs - That's why I asked.

Anyway, I found the problem... with the network box checked, "Disconnect when done," my computer couldn't or wouldn't connect during the day when I wasn't using the network card. It seemed to go to sleep and would not wake. Simple fix, leave it connected to the BOINC servers. Problems are solved.

I also found that resetting the program for work that hadn't started but was listed as "Computational Error," was the wrong way to go. Simply reconnecting to the BOINC server and then hitting update put them all running right again.

Thanx anyway people,
