I guess its time to do daily postings of what the graph looks like for workunits and discussions(?):

5 Million waiting for validation by the end of tomorrow?

I can only do CPU tasks as I h a an Intel GPU which not supported. Maybe GPU tasks are validated quicker as they will undoubtedly be shorter.

Putting this here so I'll remember what it is now: Workunits waiting for validation 3685233

Now Workunits waiting for validation 4329195

Higher than before but some have been validated. Backlog + new?

Now its 4379516....gone up again.

Simulation tasks around 17 days wait for validation, Separation some (one or two) instant most around 7 days. Have emptied my cache now.

The waiting for validation backlog is over 4 Million and climbing. Simulation backlog seems to be around 14 days and Separation around 7. Would it be a good idea to stop generating new tasks until the backlog is reduced ?

Think there must have been a glitch, I have 15 separation tasks assigned but they are not on my system. Will leave things, I guess they will disappear eventually.

Now it’s 3690194….not sure who is getting WU’s validated it certainly is not me.

The system is grinding to a halt….so sloooooow. What is happening ? Very little if anything getting validated, waiting for validation has increased by over a million in the last 4 days…something is wrong !

Completed another one. Estimated elapsed was 20 mins 20 secs. Actual 187 mins 18 secs.

What is annoying is the disparity in credits. Previous task got 2732.2 for 65,612 secs CPU.

Task just completed used 80,624 secs CPU got 2,430.85 credits.

Am winding down and going back to separation tasks.

One more estimated elapsed 9 mins 59 secs, actual elapsed 152 mins 20 secs. Using 8 CPU’s.

Based on a small sample of WU’s I think estimated elapsed time on N-Body is out by between 2.2 and 2.7. Will keep monitoring over the weekend. WU estimated at 29 Mins took 78. WU estimated 59 Mins took 138 Minutes.
This was on an Intel I7 using 4 CPU’s.

Yes I had several, one I recall said 11 minutes and ended up over 7 hours.
From what I recall the highest number had was an estimate of 1 hour something but ran for over 7 Hours.

Looking back at old screenshots I did in April the Nbody Simulation average was .12 or .13 of an hour, about 7 Mins. Now the average is over 2 hours with some ridiculous maximums at 130 hours plus. Something has really changed. Also the awaiting validation seems to hovering between 1.69 and 1.80 million and has been like that for last few weeks. The last Nbody’s I did were mostly fails to complete and were timed out, not surprisingly.

Same here I have an Intel I7 and 2 are running on 4 CPU’s each and say 7 hours to go after running for 2 hours so far.

That’s my Nbody WU’s finished at last, one took over 96,000 CPU seconds, the other over 107,000 CPU sec over 4 CPU’s.

Apart from anything else credits are not consistent.

WU producing 61707 CPU seconds got 3939 credits

WU producing 96940 CPU seconds got 2139 credits

WU producing 52276 CPU seconds got 2228 credits

I will not be processing any more of these. sorry.

Same here…WU’s that took 4 Mins are now at least 4 hours, whether 4,6,8 Cores allocated. Estimated run times bear no relation to reality. I am running my pile down as the times are unpredictable. I may even abort the last bunch. If it takes as long to validate then no wonder the waiting validation pile is not moving much for anything.

Thanks Mikey…..I was only using 8 out of 16 cores system sometimes r showed 60% usage ..seems to be a batch of long simulations. Maybe try a reduction down to 6 or 4..

The latest Nbody Simulation tasks are taking a lot of resources, over two hours across 8 CPU’s 16 hours plus cpu time. They were previously taking 4-6 minutes when I did them before. Can see why people are reluctant to run them.
