Project reset was a good idea, I should have looked here earlier. Couldn't get work for days but now my box is crunching away nicely. Still, I figure it overcommited itself rather heavily ;-)

Arion, your calculations surprise me, since for me Einstein gives better credit atm...

My credits on a Core2Quad Q9400 @ 2.66GHz (not overclocked) under 64-bit-Linux, all projects with the vanilla app, all values are per core:

Einstein@Home: ~26 creds/h
Enigma@Home: ~28 creds/h (varies a bit since they still give benchmark-based cred)
MalariaControl: ~22 creds/h
MilkyWay@home: ~23 creds/h

No SETI, I'm afraid, but maybe this still helps.

"test 25"-WUs seem to be a bit bigger than the old ones, typically around 18 minutes on my box which is about 2.5 times the size of the "old" WUs.

Workunits validate okay, but they don't seem to be much longer than the last version on my box (around 9 minutes compared to a bit more than 7 on average), is that intended?
Anyway, a big improvement compared to the previus app: This one seems to be running stable on my system (only one which did that before was Milksop's, both Cruncher's and the old official app produced signal 11 for all WUs).

Not sure about the whole graphical "permissions tab" thing, but I figured it was equivalent to chown-ing all the files in the milkyway folder to user boinc group boinc and did just that. In my case I also needed to make the milkyway app executable (chmod u+x filename) in order for everything to work, but now, finally, all seems well. Thanks to everyone who came up with advice. I'll get back on the results soon.

Absolutely the same on my box.
EDIT: Also Ubuntu 8.10 and the same BOINC client hickop is using.
EDIT 2: I had a look at the filename and name in the app_info.xml... afaics, they are completely identical.

My "test" WUs crash with exit code 22, does anyone know what that means?

This seems to have helped - kinda. The good news is my BOINC client has stopped downloading old stuff. The bad news is that it seems to be unable to download the new app, showing up in the logs like this:

Great idea, thanks. Don't worry, I know where the file goes, I've done quite a bit of beta testing over at Einstein. The idea to solve the problem like this simply didn't occur to me ;-)

Sounds likely. But that would be a real problem, since the old "standard" app doesn't run on my system. Any idea how I can avoid downloading "old" workunits and crashing them, apart from waiting out until the new app is the only one in use?

Run test applications?
This helps us develop applications, but may cause jobs to fail on your computer yes

Has been like that since yesterday...

Apparently my box downloaded the new app okay (it says 1.23) but it doesn't seem to work any better than the previous version. I get a sig 11 for every single workunit.

My box is a Core2Quad 9400, not overclocked in any way, running 64 Bit Ubuntu with the latest kernel (2.6.27-4-generic). Anything else you need to know, just ask. I'm willing to do beta testing (I'm a CS student, so don't worry to confuse me or so) but for the time being I switched to "no new tasks" since a quad core trashes WUs at a rather amazing speed.

No idea so far what's wrong. I'm talking about this box:
http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/show_host_detail.php?hostid=36527

With Milksop's app it worked fine. My other BOINC projects (Einstein, MalariaControl, Enigma) also work okay.

Okay, no problem. If I may ask: "Afternoon" would be afternoon CET or anything else? I'm on CET here. Or could you just give us a quick notice here when the apps are there?

My bad, reading all that discussion about the new app I thought it was released already and tried to switch, which, naturally, didn't work...

No better than the old official app on my box, every WU gets a signal 11.
Running Kubuntu 8.10 (64 Bit) on a Core2Quad, if you need to know anything else about my sys just ask. Switched to "no new tasks" for the time being, no need to crash any more WUs.

This sounds good. If it takes load off the servers, it's definitely worth waiting for (my MW WUs are almost gone, but I have three other projects to take over, so it's not as if the CPU cycles are wasted).
