thanks Mikey.
k_w_h has tried it, must have seen the earlier post, didn't work for him. it'll take me a day or so to get motivated enough to try. given the hoops i've already jumped through trying to get mw to d/l work for it, i don't have high hopes.

anyone have any idea if/when the AMD R9 290 will be supported?
just got one, boinc refuses to d/l any mw wus for it, so its running Drt instead of mw.

Yes, sometimes a long time.
One of our members had to detach/reattach to mw 3 times the other day before a hardware change would be recognised.

Is there any special incantation required to get nbody wus flowing [assuming the assimilator is allowing any wus out at all, of course], or should they just flow freely, intermingled with normal ones?

@rcthardcore,
I noticed that, and then someone reminded me that dnetc is running a challenge atm, and has an ati client. So now I'm doing dnetc for the first time since about 2002...

My [and many others] milkdays challenge scores

haven't changed in over 16hrs.
Looks like this MW challenge is turning into a Collatz challenge...

Extended desktop, plugged an old vga monitor [via dvi->vga connector] into the 5870, rebooted, working wonderfully.

Thanls for your help, Haris.

Having the 'MW uses up all of my 5870, leaving a very slow desktop [XP]' problem, I thought I'd try this. But first I had to install another card to use for video. A spare 3870 - my games of M$Hearts don't require a huge framerate. Had to install it in slot0 for XP to recognise it, moving my 5870 elsewhere.
Upshot - better hearts framerate and much better general desktop speed.
However, when I added ignore_ati_dev0 [to use the 5870 for crunching but leave the 3870 for desktop] MW went from slower-than-previously to stopped - a look at the messages shows that boinc only recognises the 3870 even though XP acknowledges that both are there, and enabled, and running the latest driver, and etc.
Any ideas, or do I need to go back to the old slow desktop?

Rubber gloves, rubber boots. I thought Haris was talking about data cables.

Short answer - pruning shears. Same as when neighbour's tree hangs over your fence...

I think a Server Status link would be good too.
However the only time I'm likely to want to look at it is when I run out of work. And then I generally can't get to any MW page anyway...
