lol the the only thing i can think off is that it act like my hd3200 and 4770 card they are both auto magic set as x-crossfire thats probably your case also

HD3200 seems is absolutely not useable for crunching but now is somehow helping the faster card, i have no clue how but its running at 100% all the time :D

Everytime when a project gives out more credits then the precious Yeti some kinda Credit Cops (Yeti lovers) or mister D.A comes along.
And i talk about all projects not only MW but at all projects which gave more credits then Yeti
And everytime these start whining about the high credits and that it should be much lower, i see the same again on collatz and have seen them post on Gpugrid.
And i am sure that they post on projects which give high credits on cpu projects as well.
I can promise you and your buddy D.A. it drives whole hordes of people away.
My team had in his primetime 3800+ members and at present only a few are left.
This team has been several times nr.1 but due to this constant nagging about credits many stopped.
Ofcourse people come and go but when hardcore members say they no longer have fun because of the previous mentioned crap, then i think boinc (D.A.) is on the wrong way.
I allready posted on another forum that i decided that when i get to a certain goal i am gonna shut down the machines.
Because i am sick of the constant credit mess, i still think that there is too much credit lowerings for nothing because 1.) It costs nothing, 2.) It can't buy me anything.
So in other words i think lowering credits serves absolut no other purpose then bring Yeti in the spotlight again >.<

Or its gonna be here i come collatz
I even am thinking of turning off all projects as long as mister Anderson is alive.

I don't really understand how two projects can use 100% of the CPU but have such different effects on the core temps.

I see many differences between projects some do not even heat up my cpu's others i see which are memory intensive tasks heat up my cpu more.
Ofcourse it also depends on the optimisations used so in fact to many factors to mention.
Its like running collatz on my 4770 gpu card which make it 64C but when it runs MW it becomes 79 or even hotter.

uhuh here same lost about 120,000 minimal.
looks like admin had to make a restore and the done units after the database problems deleted.
resulting in a -3200 on boincstats from my done work because i was over 15kk and now back to 14.9 kk

Yes i have the same, i have been trying many versions and must admit all versions 6.10.x seem to have this problem

I even tried 6.6.38 and that showed the same problem, weird enough i have it only when updating from the gpu projects happen.

So its related to the gpu projects but what causes this i am not sure.

Sadly i have seen it also on 6.6.36 but used a trick to solve it by first install 6.4.5 then after it started once install 6.6.36 over it and then it was error free again.

If i don't quit boinc i will consider moving back to older version.

Yes Tombei you answered correctly i have the idea that something not going like it should
I am absolute certain that it should work if followed the directions i gave, but if you want you can contact me by site email if you want me to look at it by teamviewer.
Teamviewer can be downloaded and started without installing and works almost the same as any remote desktop alike tool, the big difference is that it works without crashing on all my machines

I am fairly confident that your machine should be able to run mw as well.
But i must agree that you probably are better of at colatz
Since that project runs much better and smoother, i think that with these new fast cards like the 4890, 5870 and 5970 it even gets you more credits.
Much more work available and huge buffer allowed enough even for pass a downtime weekend :D
On my quad i got 440 units which still helped me pass the mw non downloading times.
Ofcourse such high buffer is nonsense on my slow cards but still 440 x 12 minutes work is enough for a damn long time :D

First of all you should not change the setting for Mw because we still am using the cpu tasks since we don't have a proper GPU setup for the ati cards.
If the units starts on the cpu something went wrong. So just leave the allow cpu units for MW.

So the asnwer still should be

A Clean Install :

0. install driver ver. 9.10.x or the special 9.9.x versions, available from your cards brand most have their own package or link you back to ati mainsite.

1. (*For 64bit os EVEN though it should not be needed*) check if you see in the system32 map the atical*64.dll files with your windows explorer if not reinstall the drivers (*do not check with 32 bit file managers*).
1a. I have seen systems where i had to copy the atical*64.dll files and rename them to amdcal*64.dll even though i used the atical version (so i guess ati/amd has still some work todo to fix these weird problems)

2. install boinc ver. 6.10.13 or 16 , available from Boinc Dl Page

3. attach the milkyway project as described on the main MW page set the project/boinc to pause immediate, set under advanced settings, cpu, use GPU while computer is in use as enabled.

4. Close down boinc and check with CTRL+ALT+DEL if BOINC is no longer running at the processes tab, if it is running kill it. check if projects have all really stopped.

4. Get from the brilliant site The 20b Ati version program

5. unzip the files in a storage map of your choice then select the version of your os 32 or 64 bit and copy the ati version to the data map of your milkyway application. in my case D:\Boincdata\projects\milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway

6. now restart the machine after the restart check under the messages tab if it sees you ati card and check if it loaded the app_info.xml for mw if ok run a unit

7. if your system started with MW without error out immediate let it run when no failures and no vpu recovers with every single unit, you can go to the next step for finetune MW.

8. if many vpu recover errors try downclocking the card to see if that helps
on a 4890 i got it running fairly good with 200 Mhz less speed on the gpu and memory.

(note the APP_INFO.XML should not be editted at all before system runs stable)
9. if system run MW stable change the value of <count>1.0</count>
into 0.5 for 2 units or 0.33 for 3 units or lower it when keeps running stable
this is simply trial by error which value is good for u

Allready installed boinc and milkyway attached.
Check the steps which are needed if you done these steps as should.

hi i have a problem with one machine showing in many stats with 0 credits even though it runs 100k+ points a day
i tried to merge this machine called telraam to his old ones but it won't budge:
Can't merge host they're incompatible

Anyone an idea how to get them lined up or can i change the host cpid without problems ?!

Hehehe yea it is overloaded no access to site again and too many fast cards which even want more new units gives us the deja vu :D
And yes Ice i am also tempted but with no units enough to work on, its no good we need more ati asssisted projects ;)
So we can overload them all xD

What did you expect ?!
These new ati cards work through the load so fast it simply can't keep up
So me one of the slower ones end up get even less ;)
I hate ati for making such beasts :D
But prepare to see even worse since more and more people switch over to the ati cards, or buy the new beasts

Yes it possible to run on (V)itual (M)achines but as allways the VM's needs a monster a machine to get medium performance
I have run VM's on blade servers which had 64 cpu's on board and still you see the loss in performance.
Whatever they tell you does not matter its still a long way from the VM to the actual machine and that shows when performance is needed.
Now don't get me wrong i like VM but only where it is usefull like running 200 web servers on it with ease, but thats entire other matter.
Ofcourse many think VM is a solution for everything but we will see what happens when things go horrible wrong as i experienced myself, and then good old ms is not at home and blames everybody else :D

First of all Congratz to all achieved goals

I was looking to my stats and saw i passed 11.000.000 on mw today and 12.000.000 on total points almost 13.000.000 allready :D
I must admit since i run on the ati cards i seem to forget it took me 7 years to get my first 100.000 on d.c. projetcs with a enormous network of computers.
Nowadays i look at 2 machines which do them daily with ease :D

So congratz to me

Noone of the MW staff will do it. After all they have not that much done on the ATI app so far ;).

To be honest i see nothing done to the server at all
So i wonder if MW is gonna last anyway, i get the feeling the people in charge here at MW don't care at all about us.
