It looks like my system at home is getting WUs now on my RX 480, so that's great news. I'll take a closer look at it tonight when I get home.

I knew it was one of them that doesn't detect right, lol. Hopefully someone will help you get a app_info.xml running for your card so you can do some science! I love this project, but my better card I just can't get going. Best of luck to you!

By your Computer line, I'm guessing you have an AMD RX 480, right? For whatever reason the last few generations of AMD cards just do not detect properly on this project. I tried using the app_info posted in one of these threads here last night, and after the first few WUs completed properly, the... oh, 900 WUs since have all been invalid or inconclusive, so I've given up. I had an R9 290X before this and I could never get that working right here either, sadly. Maybe one of these fine folks can give you a current app_info.xml file and the download links for the current apps.

Edit: I see Hawaii, I think that was the R9 2xx or 3xx line, correct? Or were those Tahiti? I can never remember, lol.

Luckily, I've not had any problems with my card, It's been running full boar on Moo Wrapper and no crashes. I would love to get it going here without having to do the app_config stuff. :D

Your hard work is always appreciated, sir!

I think its hopeless, it's back to:

7/3/2016 2:55:55 PM | Milkyway@Home | Message from server: ATI GPU R600 (R38xx) does not support OpenCL

Def. something in the detection on your end.

When I load up BOINC the GPU detection log says:

7/1/2016 10:08:06 PM | | OpenCL: AMD/ATI GPU 0: Radeon (TM) RX 480 Graphics (driver version 2079.5 (VM), device version OpenCL 2.0 AMD-APP (2079.5), 8192MB, 8192MB available, 5935 GFLOPS peak)

Don't know if that will help at all. Sorry for three messages in a row, I probably should have just edited.

Just as an extra when you get to checking, here's some info you might want/need.

Log lines:

7/3/2016 2:49:44 PM | Milkyway@Home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
7/3/2016 2:49:44 PM | Milkyway@Home | Requesting new tasks for AMD/ATI GPU
7/3/2016 2:49:45 PM | Milkyway@Home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks

And the PC in question is Host ID 500392.

Thank you again, I'll mess around with a few more things and see if I can't get it to work.

No problem. I just got the new card and thought I'd see if it detected better and post my findings.

Hi Jake,
Have you any idea how many 32-bit Intel Core 2 machines there are out here ?
Many upgraded to Windows 10.
I would hardly call them
extremely old systems

If it's XP you can't support, so filter on NT 6 or higher instead of 64-bit.
Do-it-yourself solutions are NOT the aim of BOINC.

All of my Core 2 processors are 64-bit...

I just got one of the ne RX 480s today(my R9 290X exploded) and my client says it is requesting ATI/AMD GPU units, but ultimately receives none. Earlier today I was running an R9 270X and it got units, so I don't know if the server is just not sending me any, or if there is some problem. But I'm not getting an error whenb I request like I was with the 290X.

Milkyway@Home: Notice from server
ATI GPU R600 (R38xx) does not support OpenCL

On an R9 290X. :(

Other projects detect its OpenCL and whatnot just fine, I don't get why this project still doesn't. :(

Oh, expanded GPU support, yes, please! I haven't been applying my R9 290X here because I don't have the time anymore to keep up witht he app_info files and such. Best of luck with the updates, I'll be checking back~!

MW will not stop downloading CPU apps depsite being set to not use the CPU. I prefer using my CPU for medical research, since hardly any supports GPU... and... honestly, why waste 8 hours on a WU when it could be done in 90 seconds? I might have to detach again if there is no way to stop this...I abort them and they just keep downloading.... any ideas?
17) Message boards : Number crunching : Setting is for only GPU tasks, am getting CPU tasks (Message 37640)

This has been happening to me off and on for the last few weeks. Its quite annoying. Its not that I don't think the science is worthwhile on MW, I just don't want to waste 10 hours on a Wu that i could have done in 90 seconds. I've got WCG medical research running on my CPU, and I really don't like MW butting into that. It's only been MW that has done this to me thus far. They seem to come in spurts, like I got three of them today. :p

I've been GPU crunching for a good long time, and for some reason, while I was at work my machine decided it was going to stop getting GPU WUs and ask for CPU WUs. Nevermind that my profile is set to NOT use CPU. I quit and reloaded BOINC, rebooted, still same problem. I've had to hit NNT as to not have to manually abort any more WUs. Any idea what might cause this to suddenly happen?

I just had the opportunity today to try reloading Cat 10.1.... and it still bluescreened upon loading BOINC. I had MW on Suspend, so I know it wasn't just MW at least, but BOINC itself seemed to bomb it, running 6.10.32. Oh well. Guess I'm stcuk with 9.12 for now. At least that one works.
