I was away for the weekend (at a wonderful music festival)

I told you so... jealous trolls.... very jealous trolls

BTW: DNETC nicely took over when MW went down; and gave room as soon as MW came back (with 0 resource share, project switching every 10 minutes and a 2 hour cache)

Travis,

I suspect your infrastructure is subjected to the mischiefs of a grumpy troll. Every time it feels alone (during holidays, you on a hike, etc.) it start going mayhem on your servers.

Like this beautiful 4th of july ...

Enjoy nevertheless, I hear my ATI's releasing a sigh of relief...

I think there might be a server problem; none of the last WU's got validated...

Yep, also that happens from time to time ;o)

Got a similar issue with one of my 2 4870's. I lost a few percent (3 to 5), but it runs rock stable now .... The new app seems to stress the GPU a bit more. During the server problems, I discovered that DNETC also caused my both cards to produce errors...

I don't know where you got the impression that the "new" app works the gpu any harder than the previous one. They're the same. The only thing that "changed" was the handling of the streams in regard to the 58xx series. That's all.

I don't think it's to much OC either. ....

I clocked about 50 MHz back in order to keep the app stable; and still the GPU runs 4 to 5 degrees hotter than before...

Zydor,Thanks for the info. Apperently the new (stock) app stresses the GPU more than the previous one did (has been running with these settings for almost 8 months). I'll hav to find a new sweet spot ...

.... Nope, No change. I still have about 40% invalids on that machine, after a full cleanout of the directory and reset of the project...

Was it a reset or a detatch? If it was a reset from inside BAM, do a detatch using the host list at BOINCstats

Another thing to try .... you are running 822/995 which seems high for that card without overvolting, try running at defaults to see if it gets going, then you'll know. If that does get it going, reduce memory down to 200-300, memory speed is irrelevant MW, that will either allow cooler running PC & save a bunch on power, or allow a slightly higher o/c without overvolting.

Regards
Zy

Will do both changes... Meanwhile I upgraded the CCC/driver combo, but alas, only slight improvement...

Have you tried doing a detach and reattach to make sure you have the right brook32.dll file? Maybe manually delete the old one to force the new one to download?

I think you nailed the issue; I noticed an old (0.20b) executable in the directory. Erased all files in the directory and reset the project. Is it correct that the dll is brook32a_ati.dll ? I'll let it run for a while and keep an eye on it.

My "invalids" usually are paired with a combination of 5800 series running v0.23 and a 4700/4800 series running optimized applications (anonymous platform)...

I am running on 4870's :

Catalyst 10.2 drivers (10.3 is rumoured to be instable ?) and the stock application v0.23. One system under XP 32-bit and the second one under XP 64-bit. The XP 32-bit machine is currently experiencing most (if not all) invalids, the 64-bit almost none...

Pfew, It looks loke everything starts to run smoothly now... However I still have 10% marked as invalid (2xHD4870). Isn't it possible to refuse results from clients with out-of-date software (Was it MW, Collatz or Aqua that had to resort to this kind of measures in the past ?)

I noticed it is one machinethat has in particular a lot of "marked as invalid"s.

Basically the server likes to wait for me to be asleep or at a meeting and then crash. When I'm watching it, it plays nice.

Sounds too familiar ;o). Today it was every time I was able to check it out, I found my system idle for several hours....
Well, I'll sit it out and hope for some improved stability ....

In order to be as 'compliant' as possible, I migrated my 2 systems with a 4870 to stock application (v21) (from optimized v22). Resulted into 160 invalid, 300 valid and 100 pendings. Besides some practical issues (the quadXPC system is highly unstable since I returned airflow to normal), Credits are about a third what they used to be...

I hope we may expect the situation to return to 'normal'; somewhere this week ...
