Thank you very much.
Than app_info did the trick on my rig.

Even though the server data shows 2k tasks availiable.

Yeah...this is starting to sound familiar.

I've had the same problem with n-body workunits. Thought it was only me. After 12hrs on 8 cores only 50% done, etc.
I also just abort them. Had one that slipped by and took 19000 seconds to finish and it validated as well. Then the next dozen will take the "normal" time of 3 to 24 minutes. Been happening for the past two weeks and I have been changing memory, updating Boinc, etc. to no avail.
Glad I'm not the only one.

Apologies if this is in the wrong thread.
Has anyone looked at AQUA lately?
Saw that the project's average credit is 4 BILLION plus
per day...how is that possible? And they have about
26K users.

Just wondering.

It should be for existing users only. Since new users would not have had an 'inconvience'.

I think this will be too exhausting and ther wil be no advertising effect for new crunchers.

The last few times word got round and crashed the server.

I agree. Should be done quietly and surreptitiously and all
the crunchers will get a happy surprise.

On my one computer, Vista32, I only succeeded in running
n-body tasks after i had wiped all traces of Boinc from
the computer. Uninstalled and then wiping the Boinc
program and -data directories.
Did a clean install of 6.10.60 just now and for the first
time it is running n-body apps.
A bit extreme but I was becoming desperate.
Yet again apologies to my wingmen, but this was the last
rig not being able to run n-body without erroring out after 2 seconds.

I started tearing my hair out. Resetting didn't help and neither detaching / reattaching. Uninstalled Boinc and a complete re-install did the trick for me.
Running n-body merrily now...just have to wait for the validation trick...
Still don't know hy it seems to work.

And apologies to my wingmen for all the aborted tasks...

Not fixed for sure --- it appears that almost all of my wu's at this point are getting invalidated ??? and has only happened in the last 2 to 3 hours ??

Same here. A from 04:54 UTC all (looks like it) 60+ wu invalidated.
16) Message boards : Number crunching : MilkyWay@Home N-Body Simulation arrors... (Message 48502)

all N-body simulations are failing for me. It's a 24 core machine + HT, with 4 GPUs.

Should I try to disable the GPUs, or any known solutions?

Same here. They are erroring out on the four machines which run MW.
From Core2 quad without a gpu (Win xp), Core2 quad with 5870 gpu(Vista),
Core2 quad with hyperthreading with 5870 x2 (Win7), i7 2600K with 6970 gpu
(Win7)....I am not sure but I doubt if any N-body workunits are completed.
At least they error out immediately, previously Boinc was stuck in limbo
with them for up to 24hrs, until I noticed it and aborted the w/u.

So..."everything comes to he who waits."

Well scratch the hypothesis. I just had a an N-Body complete on the Ph II 945 XPP x64 w/ GPU complete successfully.

Back to ground zero on this mystery! :-)

<edit> Correction: I was looking at the wrong host, the hypothesis is still in play. The 945 w/ GPU *did* fail the task. Sorry.

I had a similar problem on one of my machines. This machine was running Vista 64
and each and every N-body errored out. Even happened with the previous batch of N-body work( before the outage). Yesterday I upgraded to Win7 64 and the problem has gone away.
I am not a Win expert, but something I noticed after upgrading was that Windows was repairing the .NET 4.0 framework. Took a few minutes. I don't know what the role of the .NET framework is, or if it had any part in my problem. At least that machine can crunch happily now.

How about a faster cpu app first too.

I agree. This looks like the death knell for the cpu. The daily credits
for cpu-tasks are really inadequate and barely worth the effort.
