Problem with ATI GPU crunching
(Message 29852)
Posted 28 Aug 2009 by Grutte Pier [Wa Oars]~Nemesis Post: I don't get it; It just started working! Stil having a few glitches though; World Community Grid is just running 5 tasks (should be 8). And my CPU is idleing for about 35%... how weird is that? I want the following; Run World Community Grid on my i7 and MW on the ati 4850. What do i need to do to get this to work properly? btw; MW is running 3 tasks now completing one task in about 1:44 and the GPU is at ~92% load.Would it be better to run 2 tasks? |

Problem with ATI GPU crunching

Posted 28 Aug 2009 by Grutte Pier [Wa Oars]~Nemesis Post: Ok, I tryed BOINC version 6.4.7 and ATI 8.12. Same result. Every WU is started and go's within a second to 'Computation error' result... I followed the install instructions as followed; - installed like any optimized app using the anonymous platform mechanism (I'm not sure what to do here, but i just installed boinc) - stop BOINC completely (stop the service if you are running a protected mode installation) (DONE) - copy the content of the appropriate folder of the zip file (3 files) to your Milkyway folder (location may vary)(DONE) - restart BOINC (DONE) - enjoy the incredible crunching speed (NO SUCCES...) /edit; @ arkayn; Yes, i copied and renamed the dll's |

Problem with ATI GPU crunching

Posted 27 Aug 2009 by Grutte Pier [Wa Oars]~Nemesis Post: Hello, First off; i'm new to Milkyway@Home and running stuff on the GPU, so be gentle :p. I can't seem to get the GPU app running... All it does is blast through the tasks and return the result 'computation error'. I'm on a i7 920 @ 3.2 GHz with an ATI 4850 on WinXP 64. On the CPU I run World Community Grid or Einstein@home (currently Einstein), and i would like to continue to do so. Now that my GPU is idle, i would like to run MW on that. Boinc versions i tryed; 6.6.36, 6.10.0 and 6.10.1. (currently back at 6.10.0) ATI drivers i tryed; 8.12 and 9.8 (currently back at 9.8) offcourse i did the whole renaming thing with the dll's in the system32 folder. Can someone help? |
