Hello, I don't know if this is the right forum to post this but I didn't see anything better.

My Thunderbird has apparently not liked the RSS feed (invalid RSS) for quite some time. I never noticed.

Firefox loads it fine, but Chrome says:

This page contains the following errors:
error on line 527 at column 27: xmlParseEntityRef: no name

It looks like it is barfing on the ampersand in "Questions & Answers", see:

http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/rss_main.php

Once this is fixed I can add it back to my Thunderbird and catch up on all the news I've missed :(

Okay, so far so good, all is well.

I have another question on-topic: once the card is detected as active, after booting, can I remove the VGA cable (to use on another machine for instance) ?

And an off-topic-ish question: Do I need to keep using the custom-added ATI apps or does this project support sending them out automatically via the stock BOINC client nowadays (using latest client)?

Bah, I don't have this problem with my nvidia cards...
Silly ATI.

Thanks for the help, connecting a monitor made it all better, some quick googling found how to make a dummy plug, so whenever I happen to get some resistors I'll do that.

Thanks a bunch Labbie! My crunching power has just doubled!

I've just acquired a second Radeon HD 4850 and stuck it into my crunching box:
An Intel Q6600 with 2 GB RAM in an Asus P5B Deluxe, now with two Visiontek Radeon HD 4850's (previously only one).
No crossfire or anything is enabled, as I don't believe I want that, I just want two, separate cards, doing crunching (I do this with two different nvidia cards in my primary desktop and assumed I could do the same with ATI cards).
However the secondary display shows up in the drivers under the hardware tab as "Disabled Adapter", and I don't know how to enable it :/

I've got a 512 MB 4850, running 1 unit at a time, catalyst 9.9, Windows 7 x64, app 20b, seems to be running fine, no lockups that I've seen.
Is this card capable of running 2 WU's at a time without incident?

Alright, got the ATI app working. Was crunching through WU's in 45-60 seconds apiece... right up until it locked up and reset the card :/
Temperature went from ~40C to ~85C...
Added a second 120mm fan blowing at the card, and it locked up even faster... was only around 65C at the time.

Not sure what's causing the lockups, as I can't see any way to keep this thing cooler other than replacing the whole hs/f with watercooling or something else outrageous...

EDIT: I closed GPUZ and now it's running WU's just fine, almost 1 credit per second based on the numbers I'm seeing...
Fantastic work!

nvm, I've been given a better link than the one I found here and will try out a different version of the app/instructions when I get home and am not stuck with RDP.
Will report then.

Well, I found the app in this thread, put it into the right folder I believe (programdata/boinc/projects/milkyway), and BOINC seems to pick it up now...
But all the results I got ended with computation error, so I've put the whole system on hold and don't know where to go from here :/

System:
Asus P5B Deluxe
Intel Q6600 factory clocks
ATI Radeon HD 4850 factory clocks
single stick of 1 GB DDR2
Windows 7 Enterprise x64
Latest ATI Catalyst drivers for Win7x64

And the system doesn't really do anything except torrents and BOINC, so interface lagging is not an issue for me.

Any ideas how to solve the computation errors?
Is there anything I can submit to help development?

I am a complete newb, and this thread is far too long to read through the entire thing.
I have a Q6600 with an HD4850 in it, on Win7x64, sitting idle. I was running SETI on the CPU, but if I can use the ATI card to accomplish something, I want to.
Can someone provide a coles-notes version of this thread maybe?
