Thanks but my online project and personal settings were already set that way.
Still the same probs.

Curiously:
9/7/2009 5:07:23 PM Milkyway@home Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
9/7/2009 5:07:23 PM Milkyway@home Requesting new tasks for GPU
9/7/2009 5:07:29 PM Milkyway@home Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
9/7/2009 5:07:29 PM Milkyway@home Message from server: No work sent
9/7/2009 5:07:29 PM Milkyway@home Message from server: Can't use NVIDIA GPU app for MilkyWay@Home: Your GPU lacks the needed features

It's doing the exact opposite. It's requesting GPU WU's and not requesting CPU WU's.

I'll wait for a little more help before suspending this project and waiting for updates to it. Laudable & fascinating goals but I object to subjecting unwilling volunteers to bugs.

Well...

Check only the GPU work in 'your preferences'. And reset the project. Be sure you have a GTX2XX card and 190.38 driver or greater.

I have NVidia GTX 280 but my drivers a bit old so I've updated to 190.62, now running a milkyway@home project on my GPU just freezes my machine right away (have tried it about 5-6 times) so I've disabled computation on GPU :'(

thx for your help, I'll give it another try with nVidia updates&patches the crappy 190.62 release (have a few other non-BOINC issues)

Isn't your computer fault. CUDA MW app now takes a lot of your user interface time... Are them who must to fix it...

Best regards.

So I cant use opti app to Run CPU? I was hoping to run cpu and gpu, but cpu is too slow without opti app.If I rename file will it still run opti app?

Let me think on it and test it...

Ok I'll check back in awhile. Thanks for your help Logan.
;-p

Sorry... I tryed some things but don't works...

Now I have other things 'to do'... Sorry if I can't help you now (by the moment).

Best regards.

Thanks for your time and effort Logan. Oh well it was worth a try anyways.
;-p

I don't have any time for that ATM (sorry), but sure our friends can search a solution for that... Don't dessist...

thx Logan, could you pls tell where exactly to look for that info?

Of course...

In the project web page, select 'your account'. Next you can select 'view tasks'. when you find a 'completed task' make a click in the number called 'Task ID'. Then you can see the log of your task.

I.e. your task log

Hi guys, my Boinc app finished about 20 CUDA Milkyway@Home jobs all ended by "computational error". Could you please guide me through the process of how to collect and send you the necessary data so that the issue could be looked at? Thank you. SciBuff

Still no CUDA!!! I have done a complete re-install of EVERYTHING, I'm using 6.10.3 - 64 bit version/driver version 190.62/Vista Home Basic 64 bit/ preferences are set to yes for GPU and CPU AND tests,I have opti app ssse4.2 installed also. My video card is a gtx 275 896mb, this card can run a CUDA task in just under 6 mins,it downloaded 1 GPU task when I reattached, it then asked for GPU WUs 3 times in a row and got "no tasks sent", it then asked for CPU WUs and got a full compliment of 48 tasks, now whenever it asks for GPU WUs it tells me I have my 48 tasks (6 per core) and "no work sent". Then it willreport CPU tasks and get whatever it needs to make up for completed cpu wu's,leaving no room for GPU WUs. Tried setting preferences to NO CPU/YES GPU, still kept getting CPU WU's!!! ANY SUGGESTIONS?
;-p

Uninstall Opti app if you want to crunch with GPU. Rename or delete the app_info.xml file and you will get CUDA app and CUDA work.

The 'anonym platform' that your system reports when you have an opti app, only allows to you to crunch whit the apps specified in the app_info.xml file...

Best regards.

"Can't use NVIDIA GPU app for MilkyWay@Home: Your GPU lacks the needed features"

a) Ok, but how come I don't get any MilkyWay tasks ever?
b) I don't believe the above message because I'm able to run SETI@Home task for NVIDIA Cuda.

john_donaldson@sbcglobal.net

MW CUDA app only accepts GTX2XX cards CUDA 2.3 capables with 190.38 drivers or greater.

Set 'your preferences' in 'your account' section from the project web page, checking only CPU work.

Use GPUs for Computation? NO Note: If you plan on using a NVIDIA GPU please see this thread.
Use CPU for Computation? YES

[edit]and reset the project[/edit]

Becouse your BOINC version is older and don't reports the dirver version in the sched_request_milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway.xml file.

Very good Sir J!
I really hope Crunch3r can do something with this. I got alot of faith in him. He's very good on the client side.

Sure.. He can... ;)

Hey folks,

Since there was a lot of spam going around I made the forums able to be posted on when you have a total credit greater than or equal to 50. You can make or edit a profile when you have a RAC of 50 or greater.

You have a RAC of 0 :)

(don't worry, it's only a laugth...:) )

It must be difficult in a small project where theres only a couple of people to keep things running, sort out bugs and add new bits when they have real jobs to do at the same time.
And then answer a pile of PMs and read the myriad of "I cant get any work" posts.

But is easy to delete the account of one who worked doing fixings and optimizing the project faults during one year...
