To answer that question would take way too long.....Your best bet is to read thru the resent threads and you will gain insight to your question...

What I don't understand is that the Ati cards are running this project right now...Wouldn't it make more sense to start the new GPU project with them since they are already proven to work and add the Cuda in the near future ?? All your problems between gpu and cpu users are solved..........Doing it this way you are causing more problems because you are going to be adding more users (nvidia card) before you move the ati cards to the new project.......

Hi,
I am happy to hear, that ATI GPU's are supported (Radeon 3800 Series). How can i see, that the applicvation is using that? Do i have to activate something?

Kind regards,

Alexander

You have to also run zslip.com to make it work properly....

No, BOINC doesn't work like that. The times I posted of your contacts with the server were from wu's being reported. Much more often than anything my update script does.

Keep wagging that tail to try and take the focus off yourself....Using my list that you posted, I completed 40 work units in 17 minutes.........Now for some reason that doesn't seem excessive to me since I am running a 4870 1 gig Gpu card and 4 WCG tasks at the same time.........And when I run out of work I wait to get more work....I see that you somehow FORGOT to post that part of my list.......

Sorry, i mixed things up with Pwrguru, he's reporting WUs every few seconds immediately when they're done which i a pain for the servers and completely senseless.
You're reporting a WU every 30 Minutes which is perfect

Anyway i don't understand your problem with deadlines, they're at 3 days you can do the max 6 WUs in 3 hours so it should be possible to do the 6 WUs and report them back. Not that i think that is needed but it should be possible.

kindly regards
If you read it right I am not reporting a work unit every second as you say.....It is completed work unit uploaded (no reporting), not asking for more work.....I realize that you may be new and all but that is how boinc works.....

P.s. I think that you are still confused who you are talking about.........

Has anyone else had any issues with .19e? I just started using it today and ran into a problem. I have my pc set to turn off my monitor when I'm idle for 20mins and every time i come back to my pc after this it has rebooted with an error. .19e does seem to run smoother, but i switched back to .19d for the time being. I'm running vista 64 with the 8.12 driver.
I am running the same versions as you are and haven't had a problem so far....My monitor is set to turn off in 5 minutes.....

Actually, my computer has no way of directly competing with any of theirs, it's just that it's funny to me that they're grabbing all the work that they possibly can and then complaining that they can't have more and trying to come up with ways to get more without any concern for anyone other than themselves... It's so very indicative of the mentality of the whole world anymore... step on whoever you have to to get more...
The simple answer would be to just do away with all points....Then we would see how many people would still be here when the dust settles........

I love how people like you try to justify everything you do.....I just let Boinc run and when I have work it attachs to the server every couple of minutes....What you failed to include is that since that time I have not gotten any more work and the boince schedluer will (on its own) send more work my way sooner or later....If you want to tell the whole story, include your list the next time so we can compare them......

It's an individuals choice to do whatever they like...all within the rules of BOINC and the project(s) they want to be crunching. Each to their own.

That statement proves to me that you care nothing about this project other then feeding your ego..........If you have to have work units so bad you can gladly have mine....

I've gotta stop using the development versions in the vain hope that one day it will work right. I can't recall the last time I believed the work fetch policy, resource share and debt system worked like I thought it would/should. Time to send an email to the alpha mailing list.

I think that every machine is different and you just have to play around to find the combo that works best for that computer...

How much is too much ??.....I let my machines run both GPU and CPU work units so they are always working.....It is a shame that some people feel that they are missing out on something and have to resort to writing programs to try and get more work...All this does is screw it up for everyone else......And what do they gain in the end, a couple more points to feed their ego's.......

One more question - how do you prevent other project to soak all cache for WUs? I want to crunch Einstein on CPU along with Milky on GPU, but Milky is limited for 6 WUs/CPU, then Einstein fills up the cache (I have it set for 1 day) and then Milky does not request more work. I had to put No New Work for Einstein and suspend couple of its WUs to keep GPU busy.

I have also run into this problem And have tried several different combo's with very little luck..........I found what works best for me is 6.5.0 boinc and the new 19e.....I have it set to run 4 gpu projects and 4 cpu projects and that seems to make everything play nice together..........
