I was told that the Boinc deamon starts before the AMD drivers are initialized. So, when Boinc checks for the GPU, it is not there. However, if the Boinc deamon is restarted after the AMD drivers are initialized, boinc will find the GPU. The following commands will shutdown the Boinc deamon and restart it: sudo /etc/init.d/boinc-client stop sudo /etc/init.d/boinc-client start I tried it last night and it worked for me.
