I've taken one of my machines off M@H altogether due to validation errors, 78,000 seconds cpu time for 0 credit from the results that haven't been purged :(

The only fair credit system that will work to make all project credits, reward for work & computers equal/fair is 1 CPU Second = 1 Credit (or any fixed credit per CPU Second). This will make all projects and computers equal if that the goal being seeked.

I totally agree with you but do you think the power that be will allow this? The fact that credit police chase the projects awards too much (more than S@H) speaks volumes for their actual interest in the science and does anyone really think that Boinc will give a Pentium 2 the same credits/hour as a Quad-Core (per cpu).

I agree that there should be parity across all projects, that way people will crunch purely for science but the real world is a different place and we all know that cross-project parity is the Utopia of boinc clients

For those interested:
I believe in the science behind the projects i crunch for and while points are important, they weren't the deciding factor on why I began crunching for M@H. If that was the case I'd have stopped crunching for S@H when Boinc became mandatory.
There is no need to to have a "Credit Police", if you're not happy with the credits awarded go somewhere else. Just let this community alone and spend time on one project instead to trying to monitor/compare projects.

I'd like to see the results being available for more than a few minutes too, like many here, i run several projects and not being able to analyse the results to make the best use of my systems by assigning them to more appropriate projects is a bit of a headache at the moment.......no point having machines crunching when they'll return the work after the deadline is up!!
Surely there's a way to archive the results for more than a few minutes.

It seems some of my systems have a life of their own, 2 of them managed to replicate themselves in my account. Luckily, I was able to "delete" one of them but the other still lives on. Has anyone else seen this happen and if so, what steps should i take to ensure it doesn't occur again. Thanks in advance for any help/advice

Hopefully we'll get an update today as to when we'll be getting more work. (One of my machines got some overnight but they were probably returned wu's.

Dunno if anyone else has seen this problem but sometime during the week my machines stopped pulling 20 wu's and now only get one at a time. I've increased the network usage and the additional work to 10/5 but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Any suggestions?
(I've the same problem with S@H)

Maybe i got the tortoise then, i have an old P2 448 Mhz. It's crunches long wus at a little over 7900 seconds and the shorter at a speedy 3060 seconds.

I'm using 6.1.0 on some machines, 5.10.30 on others and Boinc will switch to switch to another project when the Milky Way app hangs.

Hi,

Aborting seems like such a failure.
Oh, well.

Keep on tryin',

Unless you abort, your client won't report and no further work will be sent to you.

As banditwolf said, abort any WU that fail to complete downloading AND abort the transfer. As soon as I did that, I got my full 20 WU.

This may not always work. I have one system that continues to have the this problem after aborting the downloads. I also have one system that may have a full set of 20 of these as it last contacted the server at about the same time that this problem started. I won't have access to that system for a couple of days so I can't comfirm this until then.

I'm in a similar position, i only have access to some of my machines so when i get a failed WU download on a system i don't have daily access, the project suffers as all my machines run other projects so they'll just switch to them until i can abort the transfer. Not an ideal situation.....

It seems as if we're all seeing a lot of computational errors since the reintroduction of "older" WU's. I've had them across all my machines, some stopping the Boinc client altogether, most just reported back but it means i have to check each machine periodically to ensure they're crunching !!!

The credit awarded for this workunit seems to be out by a little bit : Result

Probably one of the older ones with errant credit but even awarding 6.xx will still leave it about 25% lower than ps workunits are awarded for the same time crunching.

Isn't it 20 WU's at a time, instead? I'm under the impression that it's:
{(Unstarted WU's)+(WU You're working on)+(Finished WU not yet reported)=20} at any particular time.

I dont know, because I crunched 20 WUs and I am not getting any other new WUs

They were having problems with power/internet outages last night so it seems like they've had another overnight, won't be any work for a few more hours most likely.

I understand that we're being awarded fixed credit, was only wondering if there were noisy workunits. Like i said, not all my results are like the one i posted and they're aren't restricted to one machine.
