Post: Hi Ian - The problem you describe sounds very similar to what happened when I first installed my 5970. In my case the card required a BIOS update to allow manual control of the ATI CCC Overdrive to work properly. This seems to be an issue with some XFX Black Edition Radeon 5970's apparently. Perhaps others also? That being said, I still cannot get the memory clock to go below 1000 Mhz but I can set the fan speeds, GPU clock (825 Mhz) and see the temperature reading which is 67 degrees C, activity 96%, with the fan set to 100%. XFX'x voltage mod software is also flakey on my Windows 7 64 bit setup (sigh). |

Post: I have also 2 pages with pending "unconclusives", the fist is from April 22. I did read in another thread that Travis is thingking about a solutiun, but it is not easy I guess. Thanks TJ, I now recall that it was around that time that Travis was making changes to the validation procedure, plus the Milkyway apps where updated for the ATI 5800 series GPU's. |
